Evening all. Its been a couple of years since I last posted on my restoration so time for an update. I have been waiting to get the trim on to complete the exterior to tie everything together, and I like it. Engine bay is complete, just need to finish the interior and I'm there after 4 years. Al

Thanks Alex,

I haven't seen that pic before so some good details there of the engine bay and I can see it is atleast a cast lead terminal from factory. Does anyone have a good close-up pic of a correct factory terminal please? Al

Quick question as I can't find the answer in searches. Is an FE glove box badge background painted red from factory?

10  Technical Board / Restoration Help / FE sedan sissor jack on: January 14, 2024, 11:12:34 PM
G'day all,

I see the previous post asking about FE FC commercial jacks prompted me to put out a request. Maybe hard to come by but I am after a jack for my FE restoration if anyone has one they would like to sell. I am after the original factory supplied jack with the brace handle that winds it up and down; not the later FB onwards with the rachet arrangement. thanks, Al

G'day,

I thought I read a post last week of someone asking about original swirl pattern hood lining but cant find it again (or I am loosing my mind...). I have just trawled through the Stinky SMS Auto fabrics saga from 2011 and feel a little concerned that this may be the only option for acquiring original swirl pattern head lining vinyl? Please tell me it isn't true and what have other people done with a restoration that is trying to go as close to factory as possible. Al

16  Technical Board / Restoration Help / NASCO deluxe sun visor instructions on: November 03, 2022, 09:00:13 AM
G'day,

Does anyone have a copy of original instructions for installation of NASCO deluxe sunvisor (the one with polished aluminum center bracket). I am fitting one up before painting the roof so need to know where the holes go for mounting screws.

Still chasing an FE glove box "Holden Special" badge if anyone has a decent one.

17  For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / Re: Roof gutter strips on: November 02, 2022, 09:33:43 AM
Thanks Ken,

I have been meaning to find out about this. My early FE would have had them fitted as there was remnants of adhesive over the body deadner on the inside of the rear quarters. If anyone still has them fitted I would be keen to see how far they go forward under the rear parcel shelf area so I can reproduce them when I get that far with my resto. Al

G'day,

RET you mentioned that the boot lining was deleted for FC production which has prompted me to post a question; so did FE's have panel board liners on either side of the boot that covered the outer guards? I have seen a few pictures and wondered what was going on, anyone have some pictures of what we are talking about.

19  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / FE glove box badge on: October 21, 2022, 11:15:09 AM
G'day,

I am after a decent glove box "Holden Special" badge for my FE restoration. Mine is broken and I don't seem to have another one in the spare parts department. I would like one that is in decent shape, the three pins in place and good for replating.

Let me know, thanks. Al

G'day Red,

The one I have fitted to my restoration still works so I have not pulled it apart. I have spayed a bit of WD40 into the chamber to rejuvenate the rubber and will pull it apart when it fails. I tried making diaphragms a few years ago with marginal success but the top diecast section of the vacuum  unit was badly corroded so never finished; if you had one to sell I would be interested as I could now replace the diaphragm with the repro ones that are available from the UK.

Let me know if you have a decent top section of the vacuum chamber, Al
