1  General / General Board / Re: Adelaide Business sedan Production on: July 10, 2016, 09:25:56 PM
...thanks Ken  ..  it was a long time ago, and i'm probably confusing it being a 217 because it had been a taxi in her previous life and must've been a 215...Cheers
2  General / General Board / Re: Adelaide Business sedan Production on: July 10, 2016, 07:39:58 PM
..On a general note, a  friends father had an FB 217 around 1976-77....much info on them ones Ken ?
3  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: front wheel camber on: July 10, 2016, 07:27:45 PM
All the Holdens have positive camber built into the settings....best for normal day to day operations.  The castor settings will definitely make a difference to your lightness of steering....make sure the isolating rubbers are of the correct description and torqued down to the proper "crush".  Also be sure the extension engine mount tongue hasn't been bent at any time in the past, as this will "throw" the crossmember and can upset the castor angle....
4  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: subframe on: April 06, 2016, 08:00:52 AM
PT 58  ..  Are you leaning toward thinking the subframe may be original ?...check all the bolt heads, washers, nuts and attaching hardware, and if there seems they are all correct and appropriate to each other, and not a cobbled up mish-mash, the subframe may still be correct.

...you say it's a low numbered body...how low ?...as there would've been pre-production and pilot models getting around very early on....apparently these earliest vehicles had no chassis numbers ??

8  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: FE FC high note horn and recent wreck find on: December 24, 2015, 10:47:40 AM
...FX-FJ horns were 6 volt.... I don't think they would take having 12 volts through 'em ?
9  General / General Board / Merry Christmas to All on: December 22, 2015, 07:27:37 PM

10  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: difference between panel van and ute floor on: December 22, 2015, 04:57:27 PM
...G'day Waynos  ..  late reply to an old topic  ..  the FE/FC panel van and wagon used the same tailgate, whereas the ute used an entirely different end gate.  I'm pretty sure the lower gate hinge area would've been a little different between the van and ute, and possibly the location of the fuel tank...??
11  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: FE FC high note horn and recent wreck find on: December 22, 2015, 04:25:28 PM
...pretty sure it's an RVB, whereas factory dual note horns were supplied by Lucas ??

15  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Oil Bath Air Cleaner on: December 17, 2015, 06:08:19 PM
...Hi Ken,  Terry and All  ..  did the big FE/FC oil bath air cleaner have a strut brace like the FJ..??

...It was dimensionally bigger than the FJ style,  but I've never seen an FE/FC one with any kind of strut to the rocker cover nut Huh
16  General / General Board / Re: Fe wagons on: November 29, 2015, 12:54:22 PM
...spotted an FE standard wagon the other day in Tullamarine....had historic plates, with pale blue exterior and looked dead stock....
17  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Engine Bay on: November 28, 2015, 06:27:36 PM

18  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Engine Bay on: November 28, 2015, 03:14:38 PM
...would the reverse light option be part of a factory fit ? (as well as being offered as an accessory ?)...

...the only reason I mention this is that the wiring loom must've been designed to cater for it, as well as the clear lenses provided  ?
19  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Engine Bay on: November 26, 2015, 07:41:06 PM
All FE and FC up to October 1959 had a tail light consisting of a red upper tail / stop / indicator lens and a lower clear lens for the optional reverse lights.
The late FCs had an upper red tail / stop light and a lower orange indicator lens which also doubled as the optional reverse lights.

Ken

...G'day Ken and All  ..  how common was the reverse light option, and to what models would you see that option mainly exercised  ?    Cheers to All
