Thanks for the comments guys. I appreciate them and i'm sure my grandpa would have too.

Nancy was my grandma's name and also i think it suits the car perfectly..

I wish my ek pics had a fe ute in the background!  Roll Eyes

Sorry for causing forum trouble i had a feeling this thread might but i couldn't resist. Just don't reply when everyone's had enough and it will eventually disappear.

Cheers
Gareth

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to show everyone on here my car. I know its not an fc or fe but once this car is shmicko the next project will be a fc ute with 307 chev but being a uni student thats a fair way off.

The car history is it was my grandpa's before he passed away last year. He owned it since 1963 after my uncle wrote-off his t-model the family didn't have any transport so they bought this 12 months old. The car has since been his only ever daily driver and has been registered all its life. I assume its been around the clock a number of times from the stories my father told me about travelling around Australia in it several times.

Engine:
138 grey all original only just installed a fuel filter after dirty fuel troubles.
hydra-matic

Paint:
Original paint is barrier coral over pyramid coral and needs a fair bit of touching up but looks good from far far away. lol

I haven’t done much to the car just put some seat covers on it as the old seat covers the foam had crumbled and was giving me sneezing attacks. I have painted the wheels. Given her a good cut and polish. Polished the crome. Rebuilt the carby. Installed a stereo in the glovebox and made some kick panels and put some speakers in them. That’s about it.

Sorry again its not an fe fc but i no some of you must have ek's or at least be interested in them. Hope you enjoy the pics..

Cheers
Gareth

Thanks for the info..

I'm leaning towards pulling out the motor and giving it a full rebuild including the head. As she is getting a close to rebuild stage(ie compression starting to fade, 40 odd years without being touched) although I have no doubt it would last a bit longer.

I have a local engine shop that will machine the head and block for me but they aren't sure about the grey motor heads and block. used to dealing with reds, blues, etc. So they want me to source all parts for the rebuild in particular the valve seats. Any ideas where I can get them and other grey motor parts.

Also what are common mild upgrades to the grey that are worth doing. I've heard putting a red motor head and crank can be done, is it worth bothering. Any info and advice on the rebuild would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Gareth

I'm after some info on where I might be able to get some hardened valve seats for my grey motor and also some parts or kits to rebuild it as well.

Also does anyone know why they are phasing out LRP I knew it was gonna happen just don't know why. Is it more a case of phasing out older cars.

Now I have to rebuild the whole motor cause if I take the head off I'm scared the bottom end is gonna shoot through after going strong for 42 yrs. I think the odometer clock has been around once or twice too. Not bad huh? Go holden!

Cheers
Gareth
