Of course you can do what you want, you just need a proportioning valve to equalise the bias between the front and rear brakes.

3  Technical Board / General Technical / DIY Spray Painting on: February 17, 2005, 12:48:11 PM
Gday,

Just after some advice regarding a DIY job I have in mind. Could anyone recommend the required bits and pieces to hire/buy if I wanted to do a little spray painting to repair some new year eve's drunken prank.

Basically the roof had some kind of stripper poured on it and is begining to rust away. I thought of preparing and spray painting myself, just the roof. A different colour will be chosen so that their are no issues with colour matching. Car is currently metallic grey all over so I thought a black roof down to the bottom window line on the C pillar would fix it nicely. I chrome stip to cover the join would suffice. It does not have to be show quality, just to stop the rust and look half good.

Great site and some wonderful finishes, pricey but good. You should also try this site if you are after something a little different, they don't have prices but they are in OZ.

5  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: clutch options on: January 21, 2005, 12:13:40 PM
Dave

If it is the same crash box as original the tougher clutch will mean you will probably put more stress on the tranny and as a result you will be looking for an upgrade pretty soon. I run a 202 with the original crash box but I am very gentle in first gear (also 2.78 diff). Be careful what you intend doing to the beast as you may find the gearbox will be the weakest link.

Thanks for all the info. I have also been in touch with CRS and they were very helpful. I guess it is work in progress and a few decisions to be made.

Thanks again

I have been given estimates of around $5000 - $6000 to do the conversion to 186 plus trimatic, is this in the ball park. If I went v6 I would prefer ecotec as I have owned both early and later v6 commodores and found a huge difference in the vibration and noise which would no doubt be increased in the FC.

I plan to use my FC everyday to travel approx 150 km to work and back and was after some advice (approx cost) of either fitting red 186 and trimatic with lpg conversion or commodore v6 auto. Basically want reliable drivetrain and reasonable economy, power not critical but need to cruise at 110 kmh.
