1  General / General Board / Re: Interstate Transport - Car Carriers on: August 08, 2014, 10:44:59 AM
Yeah I have to agree with the last couple of posts. Although I had no trouble with my dealing with ceva and Canberra car ways, I am picking up
A plymouth from
Kempsey to bring back to Sydney and I will be using a car trailer. It's not cheaper but it is a bit easier sometimes. I have also done the Sydney to Melbourne trailer trip a couple of times. It really comes down to having the time and if a mate comes along it can be done non stop.

Hey richfc, I've used Canberra car ways and ceva. Couldn't fault either  of them. Sydney to Melbourne is around $500.00 , depot to depot. You add Around $90.00 each end for door to door. They seem to keep changing their Sydney depot though. It could be Ingleburn or homebush or Fairfield or silverwater, so check that out with them.

Hey Wayne. I will go up but only for a look. Don't have the time to get a car ready and stay for the day too. Might take the fx chop top.
What time are you getting there? It would be good to catch up again.

9  General / General Board / Re: Trip to corrowa on: September 29, 2013, 05:45:28 PM
hey guys, just a quick story. as you can see form the previous post, i went down to corowa to pick up a motor and box etc for the FX, from a bloke who was bringing it up from melbourne for me. I asked if there was anything needed to be dropped off or picked up on the way and Phil from corowa answered with an offer of a beer when i got there. i met phil for the first time in the main street, had a drink with him, checked out his lovely 202 fc and then went about picking up my gear and heading home to Campbelltown NSW again. Just how good is it that a simple message on this site can get you an opportunity to meet great blokes like this Phil? it was like we had known each other for years. it really made a mundane trip very enjoyable. Thanks Phil and i hope that i can do the same for you or anyone else heading through this way some time in the future.
 regards to all

13  General / General Board / Re: A whole lot o Rosie on: July 15, 2013, 08:24:48 PM
Just read your post and before i looked at the photo i knew which vehicle you were talking about. I know you will do a good job of making it your own but i also hope you took lots of photos of rosie as she was when you bought her. i must have looked at her on ebay at least 20 times, and each time, i noticed something different that i hadnt noticed the previous time. She certainly had an original personality.
 good luck and happy rebuilding

dear Mr fe350chev. You sir are a bloody genius. I agree that it needs more and it starts with the bonnet. it actually looks good without a bonnet, as i took it off today to see what the problem was. I like your suggestion and as usual i shall attack it like a bull at a gate without placing much more thought into it. Now unless you are a stickler for the application of the fines and gaol sentencing that normally applies to copyright, i shall pursue your idea to the fullest and when asked i will say fe350chev who? Next its off to google to get photos of all those cars with similar bonnets. thanks for that great idea that i just thought of.
best regards

mate i dont know adelaide but it came from there and the pick up point was St Kilda Autos, at 1 Beach Road, St Kilda. the seller used them as a middle man. it got picked up on friday 28th june, but i dont know what type of truck. I just gave them his number and hopped on a plane to go overseas. When i got back, it was in sydney. I never spoke to the guy after i organised the transport, but it could very well have been the car you are talking about. I have never seen one like it before so i dont think there are too many running around. While i was fueling up today a very kind local citizen let me know that he used to have one exactly the same and he paid $15.00 dollars for it and used it as a paddock basher. So in short i think i must have paid too much for it. You gotta love those helpful punters. By the way, his fx came out of the factory with the 179 red motor as it was a prototype. he thinks my car may be the same one. he has gone home to see if he can find the log books for me
Pure genius

16  General / General Board / Re: My new ride on: July 09, 2013, 08:59:36 PM
mate, my mind is racing along thinking about all the changes i can do. it has a chassis fitted. I have an engineer looking at it in a couple of weeks to make sure i can get it engineered in NSW. i know i will have to lower the seats as i either bend my head down to see, or sit back and only view 20 metres in front of me. once he gives it a certificate, i will be look at replacing the gearbox.(it has a single rail 4 speed which i had to google as i had not heard of it before) i think 2nd gear synchro is worn and the gear stick sits too far back for me. I will look into changing it for a celica 5 speed. It looks good in photos but it is a bit rough so i will be cleaning up the paintwork and the bonnet just doesnt sit right. the power out of the 161 seems too good to be true so i need to find out what exactly has been done to the engine. The handling is excellent if a little too firm. Once ( and if) i get the engineers certificate i will be redoing the complete interior to make it more apealing to the eye. I know you are thinking about a v8 conversion but I have so many projects, i just want to drive this thing for a few years and then i will be too old to worry about it. OR it wont pass the engineers inspecton and it will just become a conversation piece in the shed.

Hey guys, I know it is not an fc but I thought I would show you my new ride which I had delivered yesterday. It is a chopped fx running a 161. Goes good, handles well and I can almost see out of the windscreen. The main thing is, she is in her new home at Minto, NSw.
Best regards

18  General / General Board / Re: State of Origin on: June 07, 2013, 02:35:58 PM
Funny about the interpretation. Myles never leads with his head unless it is origin game otherwise he would be sent off for a few games. He cleaned up robbie Farrah last year with a straight head butt. Nothing said because it is all different in origin. He tries it again and gallen thumps him. Now gallen should have been sent. Queen slanders, whinge when they win, whinge when they lose. Of course Tallis and fatty agree with you, there is a surprise.  I think footy was the winner on the day.

you misunderstand my post Fink. I was just joking, although it was painted with a vacuum cleaner, and that is why i went on to say that we used to paint dads car with a brush.
i was beng "light". no problems at my end. is there something i am not seeing here?
20  General / General Board / Re: My brand new old fc on: May 02, 2013, 09:14:47 PM
Not just house paint. it was sprayed with a vacuum cleaner.
but you are being a bit picky.
That just shows how snobby the new generation of old holden owners are becoming. When i was a kid we used to brush paint dads car every year while we were on school holidays. Well we thought he liked it.
