gday rod
every 2000 miles will keep her happy, what i also do seeing there is no oil filter is buy some cheap oil as well, drain your oil ,put in the cheap oil run it 4 about 1 min, drain again then pour in your good oil,I sugest 40-70 penrite.its a thick oil which will keep your pressure up and the motor runs not as loud

4  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Repairing a fuel tank on: August 17, 2004, 12:26:20 PM
gday
had the same problem with my tank 4 the ute.rust holes on the top of one ect.the process use to weld top to bottom is called roll welding.the way it was explained to me sounded complicated.everyone i took it to said it was not worth thier while.in the end i took it to a friend who is a ex panel beater.he cut the rust out in sections then welded plates same thickness in there place.some touch up then tar and u will never know.
if u find someone willing to do the job make sure tank is flushed in case there is some petrol fumes ect
also u must treat the tank after it has been repaired as it will rust on the inside where the weld is.he used a product that he said was used by motor bike tank repaires.just need to find a good welder

gday all
if u r travelling nrth towards cherrybrook the last st on the left just b4 cherrybrook( Vincent rd) is where i live. ,about 1.5 km from swap meet.if anyone is thinking of bringing there fe/fc but is worried about parking on the side of northern rd you can leave your fe/fc at my property.have plenty of room.have a flag pole out the front.would make a great pic a row of old holdens parked behind a aussie flag
anyway just a thought

11  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: vibration noise in 3rd gear on: June 05, 2004, 09:21:06 AM
gday
had the same problem turned out to be my tail shaft
jack up the car,get it on stands, start the engine, get it idling in second gear, then get under the thing with a light(helps to cast shadows)watch your taleshaft. if u have any movement up/down, your taleshaft  is either out of balance ,or warped.the factory specs allow for 0.030 of a inch movement, any more will cause vibration and eventually damage your uni joints, might be a good idea to change your yoke if it is the tailshaft, new yoke is around 89.00 at rares
cheers

13  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Guard Bolts on: May 26, 2004, 10:55:23 AM
gday
rare spares in sydney does a chrome bolt and washer that is almost identical to the original.it works well as it is a metric 10mm head and as u know it is similar to a self tapper so it sort of retaps the hole ,makes i nice and tight, i did my fc ute..looks great

gday
i had my ute sandblasted by a old guy i was put on to. he picked my car up sandblasted it inside out and underneath undercoated it 4 me, did a top job ,no warped panels.5 years ago he charged me 250.00 dallars.also i know of a place that can dip the whole car 4 you in acid.it is a good process but u have to seal the metal b4 it goes of and starts to rust again
cheers
