1  Technical Board / General Technical / Help with fuel gauge problem on: July 05, 2008, 10:59:20 PM
G'day guys, just got a curly one for you.l'm running a HT-HG fuel gauge & sender unit in my FC & out of the 5 or 6 fuel gauges l have all of them are broken.lts the little ceramic diode/resistor at the back of the gauge. Can anyone tell me what the hell this is & what rating/strength/resistance it is so hopefully l can solder another one in & have a working fuel gauge again. l took one in to Dick Smiths or Tandy they just looked at me like l had 2 heads!       Huh    Daz.
2  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: Looking for the piece of trim that goes under tailight on: July 04, 2008, 09:24:56 PM
If you dont have any luck finding the original trim (l'm guessing you 're talking about the vertical trim that runs from the tailight to the bumper bar) you can get some chrome moulding- plastic or vinyl l think that is mounted using double-sided tape from the striping/paint touch-up guys in the vans.lt might get you out of trouble, even if its only till you find the right ones.    Daz.
3  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Alternator bracket chev on: June 25, 2008, 09:05:01 PM
Not sure to be honest Ben, my first guess would be try the bigger speed shops like American Auto Parts, Rocket or V.P.W. being a Chev part l would guess it would be  imported from the states & probably not made here. Daz.
4  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: anyone used a holley blue in a wagon on: June 25, 2008, 08:51:12 PM
I cant remember how much difference is in the floor pan/fuel tanks between sedan & wagon, but in my sedan l fitted a Holley blue pump at the front of the tank.l wanted to mount it fairly low, but not right at the back of the car so it screams "look at me!". l had twin 2 1/2" pipes to get around as well as the 9" housing & sway bar.lts mounted out towards the far right of the tank(away from the bulge of the housing centre) & l mounted one of those perma-cool large fuel-filters in the same location, but opposite( on the left side)if that makes any sense. Both were mounted by brackets bolted through the boot floor & hanging down vertically to mount the pump/filter. Hope this is of some help. Daz. Wink
5  Galleries / Members' FEs and FCs / Re: Wintersun Chopped and Flamed FE Ute on: June 11, 2008, 08:36:59 PM
We saw the same ute at Wintersun last year, very cool. It also has a one piece rear w/screen,didnt look like it was glass, but looked very smooth!   Daz.
6  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Alternator bracket chev on: June 11, 2008, 08:08:55 PM
G'day John, I also wanted my alternator down low out of the way & after trying a few types l ended up making my own out of 10mm alloy plate.( & various other bits) Lot of work, but eventually worth it. I later found out there is one out for street rods with Chevs, but l had already finished mine (of course) so l never pursued it any further. Wink  Daz.

8  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: 2 speed wipers on: April 04, 2008, 09:23:23 PM
I dont know if this is any help to anyone, l used a UC Torana wiper motor & reversed it to sit inside the car (nightmare!) & to "simplify" things l ended up using the whole UC harness under the dash to match up with the UC column & switches etc. After l did mine l heard a few whispers that a comm. wagon rear wiper motor is a pretty good donor motor too.
9  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Stereo Help on: March 29, 2008, 10:37:12 AM
G'day rod  This is going to sound really dumb, but check the 2 coil wires are on the correct posts to the coil (  - & +). Many moons ago when my car was first on the road l spent up big on a stereo & couldnt use it because of terrible interference & noises. It was so bad that l was frightened that the speakers would blow up from the noise. I had many experts look at it & shrug their shoulders & say "sorry". Finally after becoming mates with a guy with a stereo shop he took up the challenge & solved the problem in 5 minutes. The auto -elec. who "checked over" the wiring & made his own mods before the initial fire up had put the 2 coil wires on ass-about. My mate couldnt believe that the car even ran -let alone didnt catch fire!(l've done my own wiring ever since!) Daz.
10  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: HZ Wiring on: March 11, 2008, 09:06:55 AM
I'm only working from memory here but if l remember correctly because HZ has the wiper controls on the blinker stalk as well the wiring harness should have 2 black flat connectors about 75mm long with about 12 terminals on each of them. The column wiring connects to these in std. form. The column also has ignition,wiper,washer,hi/lo beam,hi beam flash etc. etc. which is why theres so many terminals.   Daz.

13  General / General Board / Re: Question on posting artwork on: October 15, 2007, 09:20:18 PM
Thanks guys for your help & ideas. l was thinking about a watermark or something similar & home-made.l remember years ago l saw a few sketches on the net. the artist had copied them & then drawn the big "copyright" symbol through the drawing, a bit savage maybe- but it probably worked! Daz.
14  General / General Board / FC vs EK vintage street race on: October 07, 2007, 12:49:13 PM
Gaday guys!,
l need a bit of help, was it on this website that l saw a short clip of a FC(wagon?) & a EK street racing old school style?
l was telling my sister about it (she's in Las Vegas) & was very excited at seeing a bit of OZ style. But as yet l havent found it.Can anyone tell me where l can find it for her?    Daz.
15  General / General Board / Re: Question on posting artwork on: October 07, 2007, 12:41:36 PM
Thanks guys, although Rets answer left me a little light-headed & dizzy(not really up with all this computa stuff!)its pretty well as l expected. My drawings are far from the greatest masterpieces but many years ago one of my drawings ended up as business cards & another one ended up on a few car show entry forms, all without my knowledge,Ok or wallet getting any benefit! which leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.
Although l sketched one of my mates Firebirds for him which with my permission ended up being inked on his arm forever so l guess thats a plus.  Thanks again for your help, Daz.
16  General / General Board / Question on posting artwork on: September 24, 2007, 03:00:01 PM
ls there a way of posting some of my artwork directly to this website.l know it can be done through a photo website, but the less sites l can go through the less chance of them being ripped off & copied l would think.  Daz. Huh
17  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: eh colum in fc on: September 24, 2007, 02:21:13 PM
l put a HR column in mine years ago, from memory they have 2 bolts mounting it to subframe which needed a bit of "massaging" . l was informed (after l did mine of course!) that the EH column still has the 3 bolts same as FC & they are closer to the same distances apart(closer than HR anyway)  Daz.

19  General / General Board / Re: FE-FC'S AT NOSTALGIA DRAGS QLD. on: June 09, 2007, 08:40:33 AM
Gaday Andy!
Talk about a small world! my missus ran into John today in town & he wants me to take my car out to him,he reckons he's never seen it.l really have to pull my finger out!
We actually met up with John when he was at Morayfield( by shear coincidence) l was looking for a HT_HG wagon to do up for a driver & we went to look at one from out the trading post, turns out he was living down stairs at the same house that the guy selling the wagon was!(didnt buy it though, too dear) We pulled up & l said to my wife, check out the red FC- hey hang on ,l know that car!
Good luck at the nats!           Daz.
20  General / Events, Shows etc / Re: `Anyone going to wintersun? on: June 04, 2007, 09:05:57 AM
Me & "The Fam" are going down on Sat. for a look.We go every year for a few days, but this time due to lack of finance we're just cruisin down for the day. Also last year we had one bub & the boot & back seat of the FC was chockers, this year theres 2 bubs so l would need a B- double trailer for all the crap.
Looking forward to it,but l'm gunna miss not entering the nite-cruise, its a blast!
Hopefully l'll try to catch up with a few of you guys if you make the trip up!       Daz.
