Yes Trev I did get the D in the mail and it is greatly appreciated.  Sorry about the delay but it's been a hectic week.

I'm now on the search for the little clip for the back of the letter to hold it on.

Thanks again Trev

5  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / FC Special Sedan - Tilli Strip on: October 18, 2004, 08:17:26 AM
Car is basically complete.  It has HR rear end, Mild 161 with extractors/custom 2" exhaust, rack and pinion with LH torana discs.  It needs considerable work for the road.  Some additional spares go with the car. Family circumstances don't allow enough time for the project.  I am able to send more pictures if required.

I am located at Caboolture, North of Brisbane and the car is on the market for $1500.

Jimmy

I am attempting to add pictures but am not having much luck. Will keep trying.

8  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Speedo Cable on: October 04, 2004, 01:45:07 AM
I am having a real problem removing the speedo cable from my FC.  Donor car one came out easily from the top end.  The one in the car is jammed in some way at the gearbox end?

Can you undo the 1 1/4" nut, if you can get at it, without drama and does this free it up to be removed?  Is there a collar on the gearbox end of the original cables?

I have checked the speedo itself and it works OK.  I think the gearbox end is the issue.

Anyone with any experience with this sort of hassle?

Hey Nick - Won't be able to get pics until the weekend. Do you have an email address to send to?   I do know that the front bar on the steering rack has been cut and welded, and looks ugly - probably illegal?

Hello Nicko
I am pulling the front end out of my FC shortly.  It has a LH Torana f/e that was poorly done.  It will need some work to make it ok and then I will have to look at steering etc.  I am curious whether the HR front end you mentioned would be an easy fit for a novice and less work than what I have got now?  If this is the case I would be interested in the front end you have.  I am at Morayfield, south of Caboolture. I am just finishing a HR rear end to go under the FC and slowly getting some bits and pieces together.  Any advice would be appreciated.

12  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: LH Torana front end/161 motor on: February 27, 2004, 11:26:08 AM
Thanks for the interest folks.  New info tells me the car has a HR front end with LH stub axles and rack and pinion.  Steering is original.  Apparently someone cut the rack, shortened it and rewelded it. I don't like the idea. It won't let the steering go to full lock.
Is there a kit you can buy to bolt on to the HR gear?  I have heard there is a place south side of Brisvegas but don't have a name.
I have included a full length shot of the car for those interested (sorry about the quality).

Thanks for reply.  I am waiting for delivery of car.  Seller had it for a while and did nothing and is hazy on the details.  I think it is LX front end complete with steering column.  The problem is to do with the turns to lock in one direction but I will not know fully until I get it up on blocks in the shed.  I have all the original parts as well along with several other bits and pieces with some parts missing, like bonnet letters, hubcaps, one inside door trim.  There will be a bit to do.  I will try to attach a photo.  I have not seen the side stripe on any around and wonder if it has a name or history?

Thanks
Jimmy
