13  Technical Board / Modification Help / Engine help, Which way do I go ! on: October 20, 2004, 08:46:15 PM
Hi All,
I am hoping that the forum can give me "devine guidance" on the following.

I have made up my mind to fit a HR front end into my EK, and as such realise that the outrigger must be changed. I have also become aware that the current 138 is blowing a lot of smoke out of the breather and constantly dripping oil out of the breather. So "assuming" my motor (not the original) needs work / replacement, which of the following options should i go with;

1/ Change outrigger and have my motor recond $2500

2/ Change Outrigger and Buy "Good" secondhand Grey motor, cost approx $250 to 500

3/ Leave HR outrigger in place, buy "Reconditioned 161 motor" cost $1585. I am assuming with this option that the mounts for 161 are same as for HR Front End + manifolds etc off 186 will fit on 161 + that the Grey box will fit straight up to the 161

Forum comments welcome

15  Technical Board / General Technical / Help with correct "King Pin Set' fitting on: October 13, 2004, 08:25:00 PM
Hi,
The King Pins in my EK need replacing but i am a little confused as to what size kit to replace them with. if i am replacing the whole King Pin set up including the Cups which hold the actual shafts/king pin then dont i just get the same size kit again or do I have to get "Oversized' ones like the ones Rare Spares sells.
Help from the Forum is much appreciated

Glenn,
I wish people like you would stop using this Forum to "Show Off your tallents" it makes mere mortals like me want to cry. Seriously you have done a very fine job and the paint work is tops!
Now you have to keep the progress pictures coming

19  Technical Board / Modification Help / Which gearbox to use on: September 28, 2004, 07:23:59 AM
I am sure this has been covered before but as i am about to install a HR front end to my EK Ute i thought i might go a bit further and change the Gearbox to something more modern and something that "does not scream its lungs out on the freeway" I am keeping the grey motor so i would like comments  from the forum on what box they think i should go far incl model number if possible.  I know about the modifications i need to make i realy just need suggestions on which box
