Tas has special interest reg, a one off roadworthy is required, can drive 52 times a year and have to fill in log book cost $267.00 approx p.a. and are issued with white plates with black writing (as opposed to white with blue) SI_ _ _ _.

Hi guys, I have just re-fitted the engine in my Fc after re-build, its a warm 186 with twin downdraft strombergs, loving every minute of running her in but am finding that once tank fuel level gets to about 1/3 she starves for fuel when going up longer hills. I have been introduced to the somewhat embarassing fuel gauge peculiarity with the model so I'm not relying on the gauge and really running on empty when I fill the tank she runs perfectly up hill and down dale, I understand there is a pickup pipe inside the tank, I'm wondering if this might be fractured and sucking air when tank gets lower and fuel runs to rear of tank when going up hill ? Anyone had similar issues or any ideas would be appreciated.

with these sort of kits cheaper can often mean CHEAP...... be careful, saving a few dollars might cost you many hours of remedial work and the end result might not be as good. Once I've paid reg on FC I might get one of these, would look good with open bonnet and resin red motor (also avaliabe on e-bay). Looks like a sweet kit.

Hi Neil, Running 186 with points ignition, the white wires from tach don't have a trace so I went with pot luck, no reading at all, then I had a fiddle and founs a screw on the back with a wire going to it with the marking 4cyl 6cyl and another with 8 cyl. I checked and found this circuit not live so bridged to earth and needle went straight to max revs sp I swapped white wires where I had connected them to the coil, now tach reads either very low and with little response to revs or after fiddling with dash pot at back of tach too responsive jumping to 8,000rpm with estimated 1500 revs on engine with no middle ground. I should also note I got this with a car I parted out, it was in the boot with some other gauges and stuff so I'm not sure it is any good and might be wasting your time and mine ! But as I really want to keep the FC all old school it'd be sweet if I could get it working.

Almost on a winner !, Thanks for the help, I have wired up and it now either just reads around 800/1200rpm or jumps right up to 8,000rpm with just afew revs, I really don't care if it's accurate bit I'd like to get it reading approx right, any ideas ?

Hey all, I have an old school smiths tacho (RVI5000/00B) I want to fit to my FC but any items I can find on wiring on the net for the tach I have mentions two white wires to connect it in series with the coil but my tach also has two red wires - any ideas

Yes we plan to do the whole range of FE and FC's in kt form so you can end up with your own car.Will be about three months away. Thanks to all the replies that like the models, appreciated. Regards Red_Devil
Have these been released in kit form yet or will they be ?, they are fantastic models, its a shame the demand hasn't been there for them. I'm thinking if released in kit form it wouldn't take too much to create an FE panno and ute to complement the FC wagon and ute These models just get better and better with every issue and the subject matter is a little left of centre - PERFECT Keep up the good work

Hi Col, Do you know what track this photo was taken at. One of the cars has Brighton on the side so may be in Victoria. My brother inlaw used to race a FC mostly at Rosedale Race Track in Vic. Now i have 5 in my family that all race there. Will have to see if he can get me some pic's to put on of his car. Nice car you have looks good. Ours is not far from being compleated so hope to do some of the shows in the near future. She has been taken right back and is now getting all the chrome back on.

Hi Guys, Sorry I couldn't tell you where the track is but was definitely Vic, my garndfather died when I was quite young and the only real memory I have of him is of him sitting me in this car and starting it up (might have had some lasting effects !) He was living in Burwood area at the time I think and this would have been in the mid to late seventies. I would love to see pics of you brother-in-law's car, while i cringe to see them used like this it is still part of their heritage. You'll have to post some pics of you car, is she standard/special, sedan/wagon ? Cheers Col

Thanks Mal, Some really good info on here, I'm sorry i don't know what colour she is, she's been re-painted bit I think this is the original colour - at least she's the same colour under dash etc. I am new to FC world, my cars till now have been HRs, maybe one of the more knowledgeable guys here can enlighten both of us. Thanks for the warm welcome guys, have had a good look around and already got some great tips, think I'm gonna like it here ! I have only had my fc for a couple of months, my baby is/has been a HR Premier 186s with factory four speed, being a fairly rare car I am keeping it all original and she's only driven on weekends etc. For ages I've wanted an old Holden to mess around with and modify - but keep all old school, this is she, 186, twin down draft carbs, cast headers, r&p steering, M21 box, centura diff, disc brake front end. At this stage she is as I bought her, seems she was done up many years ago but hasn't seen real use in the last ten years or so. I have bought a full body seal kit, big cam, valve springs, lifters etc, body is in pretty good condition, paint is fair, my intention is to bring her up to scratch mechanically and use her as a daily driver, keeping everything period correct (have 8 track player to fit also). She's raw, noisy and hard work........ Perfect ps Alex, thanks for the kind words about the old girl and making the pic more visible ! Yep, love Tasmans, have the other style on my HR. Col
