4  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: V8 Engine Conversion to my FC on: September 13, 2007, 09:51:52 PM
hey riz i have a holden 308 in my fc plus im doing another one at the moment but a chev motor should need similar upgrades im assuming plus you will want to check with your state(im in qld)
as to what size motor your actually allowed! power to weight is usually a 5ltr max or in chev torems thats a 305 or a 307 ! but basically you will need disc brakes on the front a dual circtuit master cylinder 1 inch in diameter also  a diff upgrade is a must i would go for a commodore disc brake rear get it shortend and it will be strong as you would need the front end will need to be hr so you can change to hq disc and stub axles and calipers plus you will need a steering rack conversion i would personally steer away from fornt mounted rack conversions as they produce too much bump steer for my liking i have a rear mounted one in mine shortended commodore rack i drive it every day and its beautiful to drive turning circle is not as good as original steering box but thats to be expected but its a pleasure to drive any further help dont hesitate to ask!

10  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Who has an alarm/ in there pride and joy on: April 20, 2007, 03:37:26 AM
hey guys as the other fellas said if one of our cars was stolen im sure we would all put up a post on here and sooner or later someone would see a part and go hey i knew the car that was in etc etc start a chain reaction

also i found an effective way battery isolator in the boot! as you need a key to get in where battery is located makes it a great and effective way and with running a full length wire for cd player etc etc they dont loose settings but starter wont go just a thought guys

also how bout running a two kill switches? one for the positive side of the coil one for the negative ground on the distributor you know with electric dissys have two wires as sutch not a fool proof way but its a way to slow them down?

17  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: help needed 308 running rough on: January 02, 2007, 04:06:30 AM
hey jockster hey ed yes the manifold is a pre pollution style to suit the pre pllution heads and motor i have so on to the next thing ive pulled the intake off looks like it wasnt sealing down below casueing oil to enter runners between head and manifold and also now have 4 bent pushrods and i mean bent can anyone shed some light on this?
18  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: help needed 308 running rough on: January 02, 2007, 12:08:23 AM
valve seals were done when heads were rebuilt when motor was put together wasnt gettign any tell tale signs of those leaking
19  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: help needed 308 running rough on: January 02, 2007, 12:01:31 AM
didnt dial im the cam as its a hard task to remove head on drivers side to do it plus when im only running a doulbe row chain with no multi keyways cant really get it wrong the chain is 9 links (11pins) spot on smack bang in the center where its supposed to be, because of the smoke im leanign towards inlet manifold not sealing down low got no coolant leaks but it may not be seating  properly round two of the runners thus causing the problem im goin to put a vac gauge on it check manifold vacuum if its low ill pull the mnaifold off ditch the gaskets use loctite copper gasket in a tube and should be the end of it fingers crossed unless you have any other ideas?
20  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: help needed 308 running rough on: January 01, 2007, 11:12:42 PM
yeah ed gave it a Good run yesterday its just feels like its missing something chronic down low and its smoking possibly a oil/fuel combo it is a single plane manifold but ive got a manual in the care so with the 4 spd ratios and the 3.36 diff its up above 2200 most of the time so it shouldnt come into effect as you can get her to idle but shes got the dt's  but the smoke issue when u rev her on the driveway is of major concern as shes only 10'000km old

ppl ive spoken to cant fault the cam/ignitiontiming its spot on eg top dead center on the new balancer the dissy is siting smack bang on number one cant get much better than that and shes not backfiring but shes hard to start when hot also wich could be manifold leaking internal? eg hot engine into intake runners? more help if you can also i put the spaker back in as the rochester wasnt fully sealing but also am getting a whilstle/whining noise when driving?
