Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: restoring chrome

Hi Crystal, You can try using an industrial steelwool you can get at supercheap or repco (not the type for washing dishes) It will clean the crome spotless without scratching yet keep it away from the paint. Another thing you can do is wipe rust treatment over the bad spots, let it soak in then wipe it away(according to instuctions). It will stall the rust from getting worse and flaking the crome. I have done all this to my FC with great results.(see Jodstars FCstandard wagon in members real car images) Cheers Jodstar

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Brake/Clutch mast cylinder
|
on: April 02, 2005, 10:31:03 PM

I was wondering what were the original master cylinders for FE/FC, as i have a cast alloy clutch cylinder with a cast steel brake cylinder. I have seen this the other way around and assume they are changed or swapped with later model cylinders due to being repaired or refurbished over the years. My FC is a late 59 but i am of the belief both cylinders should be cast steel. Is this correct? Jodstar

Technical Board / General Technical / Spark plug leads
|
on: March 21, 2005, 11:18:37 AM

Just a question about spark plug leads. I have modern silicone leads with carbon core on the FC. I have noticed they are very common most other early cars as most original leads have since long been replaced. I was wondering if the "modern leads can affect the coponents" such as points, condenser & coil in any way. I have heard that modern leads can suppress the current and have a different affect on the system. I am more than happy to have original leads made up, as the FC is stock. Any ideas? Cheers Jody

The tyres are a cheaper brand i bought at antique tyres @$78 each plus the white wall "flappers" were about $30 each. The tyres are 640/13 crossplys. I went for the cheaper option as i am saving for a trip overseas. Jodstar

Hi Guy's, Thank you for the compliments, i have found this group of enthusiast (FE/FC) to be a great mob and good to deal with, a compliment to you all. I will become a member of the NSW club & you will see the wagon out on runs, but i wont be at the Nat's this year. As for the car, it is very original. I have replaced the window rubbers & guides, touched up the roof and the front with paint, the rest is "ridgy didge". The seats & door trims orig & roof lining untorn. The acc's i could not help myself with. Thanks again Jody
