spotted this wagon driving in Midland (WA) today, looks pretty much the same as it was 3 years ago, except faded paint & looking in need of some TLC.

Some bloke was driving it, definately not the attractive "blonde" beachgirl from Albany who used to own it .....yeah, I'd say its sold  Grin Grin

I've taken ownership of it, but can't pick up for a few weeks, so would like some good pics....have one pic only.

Apparently there were plenty of pics of his rig taken at the nats, but I can't find em  Sad

Graham doesn't have a puter and can't email me any pics, maybe someone else can  Huh

7  General / General Board / A big thank you ..... on: November 17, 2005, 01:32:46 PM
Just like to say a big thank you to Tony & Dina Galea for their help on Monday with towing an old caravan in Melbourne to the Jayco factory (for transportation to Perth).

It was a real pleasure to meet Tony & Dina, and to enjoy their hospitality at their home after doing the caravan job Cheesy.

I was spun out by Tony's exceptional cars, and his and Dina's enthusiasm for their cars and caravan Shocked Shocked.

I have given Tony & Dina a big wrap up on the WA club section of the forum, and look forward to meeting more ES members hopefully next Easter.

Cheers

8  General / Events, Shows etc / Re: Vintage caravan run on: October 22, 2005, 11:54:58 AM
From Zulu:

"It was great fun and a great bunch of people, this was the inaugural run for the east coast members (the club is based in WA) it was called the "East coast get together." Some members of this site are also members of the Vintage Caravans site"

mmmm............there's that word .... "club" :-/ :-/, just to set the record straight, we are in fact, not a "club" ....just a group of people who enjoy a common interest in old caravans, and communicate via a website .........  Wink Wink

I'm delighted with the interest shown by you guys, and the great photos you have posted  Cheesy Cheesy

We, the vintage vanners in WA, have done a display at the Hot Rod show this weekend at the Burswood dome .....have a look at the vintage caravan site next week for pics (sorry, no FC's, but there is an EK  Wink).

Cheers

10  General / General Board / Re: Trev's funeral.   on: April 28, 2005, 09:13:33 AM
from Carrots:

"thanks to all of trevs friends..saying goodbye to Trev was the hardest
thing I have ever had to do. His send off was just how he would have
wanted, surrounded by friends and family. His last ride was something he
would have been so proud of. The procession of cars and attendance at his
funeral testiment to how many loved him.
We used the music Old Holden waltz at the service and no one moved until
the song played right out. His family were not so sure about this or my
decision to use his beloved FC but I would not be swayed. I did even try
to get them to ride in Holdens but my persuasion went on deaf ears. They
are for ever Ford lovers and I think even Trev understood the need for the
occasion ford in his procession.
I do believe Trev was watching tho because his Fb ute, being driven by a
friend some how entered the procession before the family ford and altho I
could hear teeth grinding in the car behind it Im sure Trev was smiling.
The four cars to lead were all cars he loved. His FC wagon,  his best
mates EJ, our eldest sons HG Monaro and our FB ute.
We are going to miss Trev. He was so special to so many"

Yeah .....Kiwi's effort amazed me too .......a top effort indeed.
I didn't even make it from Perth for Trev's funeral, but Kiwi made it from NZ !!!

I got stuck in Dawseville, (90km) south of Perth with car trouble ....my second hand HSV Grange (Statesman) I purchased a couple of months ago let me down with alternator/regulator problems Roll Eyes Roll Eyes. We were stuck in drizzing rain for two hours waiting to get the problem sorted, and with a further two hours of driving time left to get to Bridgetown, we aborted the trip Sad.

Funny thing is, if I had taken my FC, I just know it wouldn't have let me down. It did 5 country weekend trips last year with a tonne of caravan (Joker 11) hangin' off the back & it never missed a beat Wink

and if the FC's generator poo'd itself, I could have jump started it, unlike these computer cars.........

Hi guys ......just thought I'd post a copy of one of our vintage caravan forum members "Will" who summed up Trev's funeral ...........

Just thought members of the FE FC forum would like to read it as well:

Mark T

"Hello to all of the site members who were fortunate enough to have met Trevor Roberts, and those who communicated or only read Trev and Carrots input on the Forum.
Trev and Carrots were the second highest contributors on this site (VC site) behind Mark the Global Moderator.

Lyn and I had the honour of attending possibly one of the largest and most emotional funerals we have ever attended.
Trevor's mates, friends, and relatives heard eulogies from Snail, (a VC site Member) Daggy and a childhood friend whos name we cannot recall at this moment.
A car club member (Kiwi) flew from New Zealand to be there today.
Snail asked all of the people who attended to view our site that Trev and Carrots so much loved and enjoyed to see the tributes from all over Australia......
Stories about Trevors humour and quick witt and Larrikin style captivated the Congregation for around 1 hour.... he touched the lives of many people. Even Mr Archer the funeral Director had been taunted by some of trevs humour about his profession when trev laid carpet for him.
The funeral procession left from the town Hall where the local police held the main street traffic up until the huge funeral procession had passed ......
the cars stretched from the township to the cemetery.
The town hall was at capacity with people paying there last respects.
To a man who has touched us all in the best possible way with his warm, friendly, and down to earth humour... his love for his Caravans and Holden Cars and Marks Vintage Caravan site were his greatest passion.
We all will miss this beautiful man more than words can possibly say.
Trevs last ride was in his beloved Blue and white FC
Holden to his final resting place."

Will and Lyn

I have heard from Trev's best mate, Chris (Daggy), that in true Holden style, Trev's FC wagon will be used to carry the coffin instead of a hearse  ........  Chris will be at the wheel .......

The tailgate will be down though, coz apparently the wagon is about 200ml short  !!!

Trev would have wanted it no other way Wink ............

16  General / General Board / GOODBYE TO A DEAR FRIEND on: April 15, 2005, 11:39:10 AM
I have recieved the very sad news of the untimely passing of a Great Mate and fellow WA FE FC car club member, and vintage van entusuiast Trevor Roberts, robbz58

Due to a tragic accident, our good mate will no longer be joining us on this forum.

Trevor was a great supporter of this forum, & the vintage caravan forum, and his warped humor and informative input will be missed.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to his wife Carrots, his family and loved ones at this time. I am sure you will all join us with your thoughts.

Ed,
I'm now out of contention for the purchase of the van ........my partner Jenni, being too impatient Roll Eyes, and true to her nickname "Ditzy" Tongue,  went and splashed her cash on another classic car on Wednesday, so our plan to purchase your van is now defunct Sad.

Thanks for your time on the phone the other day and good luck with the sale Wink,

does it have much bog in it Ed?  I would also appreciate some more photos .........
Is the underneath original, or has it had rust repair work done?

What would need to be done to drive it to Perth?
I maybe able to get one of the West Aussie Jindabyne crew to drive it over here  Grin Grin

Please email photos to mark@vintagecaravans.com

My partner Jenni wants it ........we have a windowless van, but its a resto job ......she's too impatient  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
