Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Oil Light

Hi First, fit a manual oil pressue guage to check that the pressure is ok. Then check your wiring as the fault can often be a short circuit remember your wiring loom is 50+ years old and will be brittle in spots the insulation may have broken away, a bare wire could short against the body causing a flashing warning light.
Good luck

HI ANOTHER THING TO LOOKOUT FOR IS GROUND CLEARANCE WITH A DONUT TANK. I LOOKED AT IT IN MY STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION FE UTE, I ONLY HAD 140 MM GROUND CLEARENCE WITH THE TANK MOUNTED UP AGAINST THE TRAY FLOOR AND THE CAR LOWERED TO WHERE I WANTED IT THIS WAS A 70 LITRE TANK, I COULD GO SMALLER BUT WITH GAS ONLY YOU NEED A DECENT AMOUNT OF FUEL TO GET FROM PLACE TO PLACE WITHOUT HAVING TO STOP EVERY 150 K OR SO VERY ANNOYING ON A TRIP. I AM NOW LOOKING AT MULTIPLE SMALL DIAMETER TANKS WITH ABOUT 90 LITRE CAPACITY MOUNTED IN THE SAME SPOT AND IT DOES LOOK LIKE IT IS THE GO. FILLER BEHIND THE BUMPER IS A GOOD IDEA BUT I THINK THAT THE FILLING POINT MUST BE FURTHER FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR THAN THE BUMPER
GOOD LUCK GREG

General / FE-FC Holden Nationals / NATIONALS WRAPUP
|
on: March 30, 2008, 01:51:42 PM
|
Hi to all
The Nationals has been run and won for the SA club, it was a huge undertaking for all of the SA club with 126 entries, 110+ cars and almost 300 people.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all that attended, we enjoyed remarkable weather in Mt Gambier for March and to get sunburn was certainly a surprise, all the venues were good, the food was delicious and thanks to all for the orderly manner members took lining up. The staff at the International were very complimentary and were happy that everything ran so smoothly.
Frew Park was an outstanding venue for our show"n"shine, the cars were arranged with lots of room for the public to look at and appreciate the display. Looking at the number of cars parked around the side streets and the numbers of people walking towards the park was truly amazing, there was a real buzz in Mt Gambier leading to the day and I know that people were coming from many surrounding towns for a look. The children's entertainment on Saturday was well received and the quiz night was a scream.
The convoy to Port McDonnell was taken on an unplanned detour that turned out to be a good thing - it enabled occupants to observe cars twice during the run and many took this opportunity to take photos and enjoy the oncoming specticle. Once we assembled on the foreshore and lunch was consumed the Inter-club Challenge stepped up with "pin the bootbadge on the boot" followed by "tunnel-ball" with watermelons as balls (unfortunately none of the melons broke), "dizzy sticks", "doughnut eating" and the star attraction "musical chairs", I cant wait to see the video footage (I was Mr music). Unfortunately Steve Brazier sustained an injury but has pulled up OK. The overall winner was WA who had to take the trophy back across the Nullabor!!!!
The Barn was excellent and everyone enjoyed a magnificent 3 course meal.
Congratulations to all the trophy winners. All are worthy of their awards. The door prizes were snapped up and well received and the couch winner was very happy.
Congratulations to Glenn L Adams - founder of the SA club - on receiving his Life Membership, it's the first time we have seen Glenn speechless!!!!!!!.
NSW presented their upcoming nationals in Orange celebrating 50 years of motor racing in Australia. Please support NSW for this upcoming major event in 2010. Many thanks to the members of the "Holdens of Age" (Mt Gambier branch) for assisting us on the show n shine day.
Many many thanks to the SA members/partners/children who helped out before and during the Nationals without whose assistance the whole weekend would not have been possible.
Thanks once again to all attendees, I know we all had a great time and it was a pleasure to see all enjoying it
Cheers Greg Drinkwater on behalf of all SA members

General / FE-FC Holden Nationals / Time is nearly up

Hi to all
Firstly may I wish all members and their families a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year.
Nationals entries will close on the 31 of December so if you are still thinking about filling out you entry, now is the time to do it.
The nationals is now a once in every 10 or 12 year event for all our clubs and being able to attend is a real thrill
South Australia is now in the throws of hosting it's 3rd nationals and its allways good to here "we'll see you at the next nats" and things happen you forget and all of sudden the closing date for entries nears and you are saying "I must fill out that entry" then the closing date is passed and you have missed the chance to attend one of the most fabulous events in FE FC Holden car clubs calender.
The S.A club has weekend of fun and games planned for the 12th Nationals in one of the most picturesque parts of Australia, Mt Gambier is renown for its tourist attractions and during your stay on the Limestone Coast you will be able to visit the Blue Lake with its crystal clear blue waters, a limestone quarry. a yabby farm or a winery to mention just a few. Mount Gambier will put on great weather. Driving your FE-FC to Port MacDonnell for the interclub challenge is a lovely drive from Mount Gambier that will take about 30 minutes as the road winds through the countryside. Finding a venue that puts our cars in front of the public can be a challenge but at Frew Park, we are on THE major intersection in the town and lots of passers by will be impressed with our display and will stop for a look. The oval is walking distance to the town center and across the road from the Lady Nelson tourist info center and is overflowing with ideas on how to fill your spare time.
The Quality Inn International will be Nationals HQ, with the NASCO BAR being the central location for after hours socialising with refreshments available and the venue for our Friday fish and chip night and Saturday,s BBQ with seating for over 200 it is perfect.
So don't put it off, fill out your ENTRYFORM NOW AND GET IT IN THE POST you wont be disappointed attending a Nationals is something that you will remember forever.
Cheers and see you in 9 weeks
Greg Nationals Director
