In large commercial vans there is an extra rubber seal at the top and down the side of the winscreen attached to the body.
It is L shaped and the rubber attached to the door closes under it and it deflects the water over the door

Technical Board / General Technical / Peel and stick door rubbers

G'day all I recently had to replace the rubber door seals on my work van. The old seals were peel and
stick on to the ducco. I bought the new manufacturers replacement seal , allso peel and stick.
The old ones peeled of clean so cleaned down with metho let it dry and fitted the new which stuck like
the proverbial. Six weeks later we had ten days of rain and they fell of. What have I done wrong? or
have the old ones been sitting in a wharehouse for the last four years?

General / General Board / Lead on fc sedan in Sydney
|

G'day all
I have been looking for an fc for the last 12 months but due to some unexpected circumstance I am unable to purchase one for the
for seeable future. I have recently come across a fc sedan in Sydney for sale.
I havn't seen the car but have spoken to the owner a couple of times on the phone and he sounds genuine .
He says " the car is a one colour grey sedan with red black interior. He is the second owner and drove the car regularly until a number
of years ago when he put it up on blocks in his garage The car is in excellent original condition and he is looking to sell . He knows what
he has got and told me I could pass his phone number to some one looking for a car of this quality "
I have no connection with this car or the owner but can pass on his details
Cheers Ray

Thanks guys for all the advice
My plan was to get the wheels freed up before I involve any one else in moving it. When I get the drums off can I just
put the wheels back on with out the drums rather than rip the linings out to move it on and off a trailer or truck?
I have done brakes before but never ones that have been sitting for years.
Thanks Ray

Just as an after thought what sort of a job is it getting the drums off to free up the brakes on a car that has been in dry storage for ten years? Are we talking a bastard of a job or a right bastard of a job ?

Ah I see the light But a midnight run from Sydney to Coffs Harbour sounds a bit over the top [ 7 hour drive ] I dont have access to a tow vehicle so it has to be a car trailer or car carrier of some description my days of out running the cops are long gone

G'day Mick
Loved the photos they brought back memories. The sign on the Flag Inn Motel says Ingham so that's a
long way north. The Bruce Highway was pretty ordinary in those days . It was called the crystal Highway
because of the amount of broken windscreen glass beside it. The canvas water bag was fairly common
before the days of polystyrene coolers. In many cases it was simply attached to the grill with a couple
of hooks made from fencing wire. The bracket on your grandfathers car is very up market. He must have
loved his cars. The water bar was hung from the top part attached by a couple of leather straps like
small dog collars through those two loops you can see on the bracket. You attached it before you
headed of on a long trip and the evaporation kept it cool.
cheers Ray

G'day Mick
I grew up in NQ the hills look familiar. Could be Townsville.
That looks like a bulk sugar terminal on the right. Love the photos
