Hi all, Ive decided to thin my Tasman collection down a bit, so i have a few sets for sale. 1/ Set of 6 Tasman 13' x 6' rims to suit Early Holden. Unrestored but in a easily restorable condition. 2 rims are damaged (small split on the very edge of the rim, from a gutter hit no doubt, but still repairable). No caps. Come with half a dozen correct wheel nuts to use as a sample for new ones. $400. 2/ Set of 4 Tasman/ROH Rockets 14' X 6' rims to suit Early Holden. No caps and no nuts. Unrestored but in a easily restorable condition. $300. 3/ Pair of 13' x 6' Tasman/ROH Rockets to suit Early Holden. No caps or nuts. These rims are different offsets by about 10mm, so am happy to split up pair if someone needs an odd one to complete a set. $120 pair or $60 each. More pictures are available on request. Rims are located in Brisbane (Northside), but am happy to pack for freight if needed. PM me for more info, i check messages daily.

All good mate! I know its not everyones cup of tea, but the objective was to ressurect a car that was otherwise probably going to be left to rot, and built to a very low budget (between 2-3 weeks wages), and something fun. I dig what Deans doing with his FC, will look cool for not alot of coin, and he'll find he'll probably have as much fun in that car as anything he's owned!

Mate, i love the way it looks as it is, has an awesome finish! Even like the Taxi theme, design up a logo for the doors, "Hellcab Taxi Co." or something similiar and paint it on the doors in a ratty finish to suit the rest of the car. (May even be able to help you out there if your keen?) I just did a similiar thing to a old Valiant wagon i got off a mate, just kept the paint and panel as it was and built it along a Surf/Tiki wagon theme, came up pretty cool! I can post a pic if your interested. Thought id ask first being a Valiant and not an FE or FC.

Love this photo! Anyone in Queensland with the slightest interest in Grey motors would be familiar with the name John Kean, and this was his FC in the early days of Appendix J at what looks like Hungry corner at Lakeside. I still remember helping my dad and John mask out those white stripes in his backyard when i was a kid in the eighties! John also had one of the best collection of Grey motors including multiple Repco Crossflows, powering both of his FX's, a Waggot, and a Dunstan. Johns now in his 60's so its awesome to see he's back out at Lakeside still doing laps in his Irving headed red motored FX.

I feel inferior That wheel has come up a treat Jim, I was going to use a set on "Ratted out", but they might get polished up for the old girl now I think. Dean. Mate, they are pretty straight forward to bring up nice, i just bought some basic polishing gear off ebay to do the spokes (polishing wheels for my buff and the appropriate compounds). The Tasman spokes come up real well pretty quickly, but the Rocket spokes take a bit more effort but still come up well. And if you cant get hold of the centre caps, 3 bar spinners fit well and look cool! You have a the grey FC in the thread about you buying it back years later? They would look great on your car, nice and low and with a thin red wall on the tyres instead of the usual whitewalls! 60's COOL!!

And "SPUR" also made a Tasman look a like ......FC427.....
There was a set on ebay a few months back, but the rear ones were pretty wide and had a huge dish, so wouldve limited what cars they would fit. Heres the add for them, they were pretty unique!

Heres a bit of a history lesson that will probably surprise a few of you! Over the years, alot of wheels have been incorrectly called Tasmans, and thats probably because these wheels were considered junk and werent worth 2 bucks and no one really cared. Once i really started researching old Australian Mag Wheels, i was quite surprised at how many different brands and styles were actually available. The wheel below is NOT a Tasman, they are actually ROH Rockets. This wheel below IS a Tasman. If you have any ROH Rockets, look at the stampings on the inside of the rim and you will most likely find 'ROK' stamped, this stands for Rubery Owens and Kelmsey, the company contracted to make these rims for ROH.

Can always save the centres and get new outers put on.
Absolutely, they're definately worth saving regardless of the rim condition. You would be surprised how even the rusty rims can be brought up to a decent streetable finish, may not be concourse but perfect for a neat streeter. As long as the rim is still of sound construction, a coat of silver and a new chrome dress trim will make them look a million bucks! I'll post a before and after pic of a rim done just with basic tools and heaps of elbow grease.
