Well kinda sorta got carried away.
And my theory of having 2 grey motor powered old girls wasnt practical .
I wanted something to just get in and go anywhere.

It wasnt what it was meant to be fully recod brakes  were stuffed maybe fully recod 40yrs ago but were meant to be S/S sleeved they werent.
Motor was meant to be tight as and was smokey old low comp girl
Suspension needing everything doing.
Was happy with the body but by the time i do brakes engine box suspension there wouldnt be much change from 6 or 7K so i figure i had the VS 5.0l which owed me roughlly 1K and fully reco box owes me 1700 diff free so far but id say $500 for axles brakes all recod owe me $900 with all new DBA rotors recod callipers tailshaft $250 radiator $240 ect ect

That’s the worst attempt at justification I’ve seen in a while, is that how you sold it to the wife?  Just face it Pete, you love cutting up stuff and putting it back together in a much better, way cooler form  Grin Grin Grin

P.S. I think I have sold my projects to better halves (and myself) using the exact same logic and rationale as you many times before, must be some form of illness - better look into that...

Near enough, they are VX seats.  I removed the runners and made rigid frames to sit then right down in the cabin with the top of the seat back roughly level with the parcel shelf.  I don’t like it when the head rests end up filling the rear window.  It means they are fixed in position but for my height and being a ute it’s perfect for me.

That’s one hell of a compliment especially coming from Pete M!  Thanks mate  Grin

I'd also try Glen Gleeson in Bundarra NSW (http://www.bundarra.com/html/triple_plate_chrome.html). He did all the chrome for my ute 5 years ago for a touch under $2,000 and every piece is still perfect.  He specialises in die cast and the parts I gave home were far from good (i.e. badly pitted) and yet came back flawless.

Pedro

A workmate has used the black salve with amazing success.  His day 1 experience was even more extensive than your photo (and I was a bit concerned at that point) but the end result was extraordinary, you could really see it work and no reoccurrence.  So far I have had nothing (38years old) but if I do it will be the treatment I seek.

Hey Pete, sorry I didn't realise you had replied, I did point him in your direction (I remembered you stripped the running gear from the red ute) when he first called me but he mustn't have gotten on to you.  He's apparently all sorted now though, thanks mate.

11  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / GREY MOTOR CROWN WHEEL AND PINION GEAR OR COMPLETE DIFF – BRISBANE AREA on: May 12, 2013, 05:37:32 PM
Hi All

I’ve been contacted by a bloke in Brisbane (John) who has somehow found an add I placed on the net for a diff almost 10 years ago!  I suggested he try here but for some reason isn’t able to register as a member and he’s asked if I can post a wanted add for him.

He’s looking for a crown wheel and pinion gear to suit a grey motor diff or failing that a complete diff assembly (he has an FX ute which he wants to keep original).  He’s been searching for some time now and for love nor money hasn’t been able to source one.

He is located in the Brisbane area and can be contacted on 0411 349 498.

If you can help him out please contact his mobile, don’t PM me as I don’t actually know him, just lending a hand.

Cheers

Charlie

14  For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / UNDERDASH COMPACT HEATER / FAN UNITS on: June 27, 2011, 01:43:20 PM
Hi All

I have come across some of these French Made (Kalori) heater fan units (Part No: 120.14.082) called the Silencio FAI.  I have a PDF version of its specs/dimensions along with additional photos that I can e-mail if you like.

They are extremely compact and after all the dramas I’ve had over the years trying to find something that will fit within the confines of an early model Holden dash and remain out of sight, I think these are great.  They are 12V, single speed, almost silent and has 5/8th” hose fittings.  Current draw for the fan is tiny at 2 Amps.  Not the biggest and most powerful heater unit you can get but for the money and something that will fit out of sight it’s going to make a big difference.

The vent panel at the front is 210mm x 156mm and incorporates the 2-position switch (although it would be very simple to relocate this elsewhere).  The heater/fan unit is smaller than the front panel being roughly 170mm (L) x 133mm (W) x 133mm (D).

Fitting it would be relatively straightforward with some simple bracketry, plumbing and wiring – all in an afternoon’s work and beats freezing during winter!

I will post them on here and the FB/EK Forum for a week or 10 days and then eBay.

8 AVAILABLE – BRAND NEW - LOCATED IN LEICHHARDT NSW

The tonneau in the pics in this post: http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,11634.0.html was made by Hardcover in Bemboka, NSW.  Their number is 02 6493 0334.  Sorry I don't have any better pictures of it as these are the only ones I have of the car.

Hi Devilrod

That photo is the only one I have taken since it has been finished.  There are some build photos here: http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,11634.0.html but thats about it.  When I get some more I will post them.

Cheers - Chuck
