Hi All
Firstly, a short introduction. I’m a 50 year old who still thinks he is still in his early 30’s. I live in outer western Sydney and like everyone on this site, I find the FC Holden a very appealing car. I have been hovering around this site for well over a year now, reading, learning and getting a general understanding of the task ahead of me. I liked it so much I joined the NSW car club. I suppose for you long term members you must hear this a lot but I will say it again anyway. This site is extremely beneficial to newbie’s like me. The challenge ahead of me is somewhat reduced by the learning’s I have already gained from the members here who seem ready to offer advice and encouragement to those who are just beginning the process of restoration. I hope to be in a position where I can contribute to other newbie’s in the future.
I recently purchased a 1959 FC ute from a guy in northern Victoria. Overall there is some rust in the floor pans and a couple of guards but the rest of the vehicle is not too bad. The car was sitting idle since 1985 when last registered in some guys shed. Typically it had about 3” of red dust under the tray, in the rear guards and in the cab along with dozens of mud wasp nests.  I have been in the parts gathering stage since I purchased the car and now feel that I have enough to commence. I have also sold and purchased a few things from people on this forum which has really helped.
I will add some pictures to give you some idea of where I am up to once I master that task. Realistically I expect this to be a 3 to 4 year project (or close to). I am thinking a Holden red motor with an auto box so my wife can also enjoy the ride. I will post more pictures as I progress.
Regards
Mark L

9  For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / FC front end complete or parts on: July 04, 2011, 06:18:51 PM
G'Day
I have removed a complete front end from an FC Ute. Has not been on the road for many years although I did drive with it around the block etc when I got the car. The front end has surface rust but that's it. A good clean with a wire brush would remove the rust. Swap complete front end for a carton of VB gold stubbies. Pick up from Penrith NSW.

10  For Sale and Wanted / Reproduction Parts / Re: TAYLORS REPO on: July 04, 2011, 05:36:53 PM
G'Day all
My parts arrived today and to me, (fairly new at restoring cars) the parts look really good. They fit neatly and are good quality. What impressed me was Bill rang me to discuss the difficulty he is having with all the emails he is getting before I could ring him. Seems quite a number of people have ordered or are making enquiries. Bill also advised the site is being managed by someone else from here on as it is too much for him. From my experience and I have no affliliation with Bill or the rubber company, I would buy again. I suggest if you are waiying on parts give him a call to discuss the issue.

Hi all
I did the same. Purchased a left and right under floor cross member section. Rang the guy at better auto rubber today to find out whats doin, the fellow assured me they are genuine people and he would solve the issue on their behalf. I guess I have to wait a while longer. Must admit though I did not see the "on holiday" sign on ebay. I suggest you ring better auto rubber as he seemed genuine and wanted to help

13  For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / 138 grey motor - Free on: May 09, 2011, 08:52:22 AM
I have a grey 138 "J" block motor that I am off loading. The motor is complete and was running before I pulled it apart. I have no use for it and will gladly give it away to someone who needs to do a rebuild or is looking for a spare motor. It has the original fly wheel included.
I also have a 3 speed box with clutch that is also free. I can not tell you the condition of the box however you can easily select all gears.

Both items are free and can be collected from the Penrith area.
