4  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: SBC Extractors in FC. on: August 09, 2013, 01:00:08 PM
Yeah Jase,i understand what your say'n,with the dizzy at the rear,it's just off the firewall, there's plenty of room with the chev, but it's getting the right guy on the job,it's just gotta look the goods! Gaz! Roll Eyes

mr fink,

if dizzy is a drama at firewall, pete jackson or moros or i think even jesel make a frot mount conversion to fit the dissy in the front of a SBC like a ford windsor is, gives you heaps of extra room. we used to do this in LH-LX toranas a fair bit as it gives 2 major benefits, 1 being the ease of fitment in your case, and 2 benefit, is its way easier to tune the car when dissy at front rathe than reaching all the way back to turn the dissy
old skool pipe builders are few and far between these days, and you will certainly get what you pay for..mark shearer from shearer race cars in reservoir makes some of the best pipes i have ever seen, but they dont come cheap, al hawkins at ultimate exhast also is very very good, but starts at $1500 plus for an easy set, but thwy will be awesome, not very many others i would even look at today to build pipes.

10  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / Re: fc station wagon on: August 28, 2010, 08:42:23 AM
i would have thought someone would have jumped on this wagon regardless of the condition or distance or whatever, especially for the price and the popularity of them.
sign of the times i'm guessing

XA/B/C sedans utes coupes vans yes but an ugly boxy unfairlane i doubt it, only certain body types and special vehicles become collectable - ok maybe when there is nothing left to restore they maybe worth more than scrap value.

im not sure if i'd go that far ...
when was the last time you saw a 351 ZH Fairlane for sale? for years they have been used as donor cars and now they are somewhat scarcer that an EH, i'd even go close to say its easier to get an FC in fair, restorable condition that it is to get any "K" Coded Fairlane form 1969-1977.
all you have to do is look at past and current sales and availability, years ago ZC & ZD Fairlanes could not be given away, now, $30k is medium level for a good one, excellent ones are fetching more and rugged ones are $12k-15k, i reckon you get a rippa FC for that sort of money...
granted, the ZH is not the most popular, but when they are in as good condition as the one "hamfist" has, you can do nothing but appreciate the car for what it is, because if you have driven a good one, you wount want to get back into a GM product of the same era, i will and can asurre you of that, and thats coming from me, and staunch GM man!
14  General / General Board / Re: Tough Decision on: January 05, 2010, 11:57:20 AM
mike,

my folks live on sunshine coast at mooloolaba, right opposite the beach, and let me tell you, that no matter what you do, your baby will suffer, no matter what you do. my dad is somewhat obsessed with his cars, and always washes, oils, polishes, does all the right things and the things still rust. i have met some old timers that also live there and they are car heads as well, and cant keep on top of it
the colorbond garage doors still rust, even the stainless steel fridge shows signs of pitting, true, and the curtains and carpets inside always need replacing, and the bricks even seem to be chaulky and its not just their place, even the neighbours have constant maintenance, unfortunately its just the price you pay for living by the beach.

dont do it, but, sometimes ya gotta cut the cord i spose...i did the same thing recently after hurting myself and not being able to fund a project, i got a fair price, but now, 6 mths down the track, im in the same position as before, the only difference being i no longer have that car that i sold, so if you can, Hamfist, try and do it some other way
16  General / General Board / Re: Anyone near Hilton St, Dandenong? on: August 17, 2009, 11:32:59 PM

Now on a lighter note - Here's the dress I made to match the FE for my wedding to John 1/11/92.

Now John has bought/made me some great anniversary presents - he built me a beadblaster for our 10th wedding anniversary - I understood, it's tin - that's the traditional 10 year gift! I was stoked  Grin but none of the women at work could really quite understand my enthusiasm  Huh

 Grin ummmm, kathy looks nice................

have you got any daughters that are rich, can cook and look after an fine young man like me?Huh??
