Unfortunately as a mechanic I make a damn good muso. Can't justify paying someone to repair or replace the clutch v uni fees. (Hand Brake trouble of the "She who must be obeyed" kind you understand). So She's on blocks and going nowhere for now! Cruel but Fair!!!!!

Until 2 years ago I used my stock standard FC Panel Van as my commuter to and from work (only about 4 kms). I also have played in bands for many years and the Van was the Mule for at least 7 of them. Biggest trip ever done was Albury/Wodonga...ish to Deniliquin and back with all the gear! Went like a German band! Clutch has gone now and kids at Uni so she's on blocks! Cheeeeeeeers!
4  General / General Board / Graveyards on: June 21, 2008, 04:03:16 AM
On a recent mid life crisis surfing trip I wandered over to the South Coast of NSW (from NE Vic) and couldn't help but notice that tucked away in some paddocks here and there were some fairly substantial Car Graveyards. I particularly remember one somewhere coming down the divide to I think was Merrimbula. Are these at all documented in any regard? Is it a NSW thing? Just curious and shitty that I didn't stop and take more notice. Cheeeeeeeeers!

Many thanks RET.
I had never given much credence to researching my Van's history until joining this site, but I am starting to realise that I own a unique and special part of Australian automotive history and should give it more of the respect it deserves. All who have got it up and running should be congratulated.
So! Thank you!
On the down side however, I pretty sure my Van has had it's arse end replaced with that of a Wagon (Rust I guess). It's a different Blue and has a "Station Sedan" chrome badge across it. The Glassed top section however still seems to be the original and even all the locks to hold it up still work! The key to the 'spare tyre' dormitory still works too and is rust free!!! I guess that's all good!
Thanks again. Cheeeeeers!!!!

Man! that brings back memories. As a kid I sent every weekend just about at Hot Rod Racing with my old man driving an FJ. I remember Fc's were the Ducks Nuts then, Unbeatable!!!!!

Thanks again for you help Paul.Revised Numbers:
Body: FC 2104-10008-A (10,008th manufactured in Adelaide)
Trim: 194-653
Paint: 256-2051 (Skyline Blue outside and Peasant Blue inside)
Chassis: FC61984M (Melbourne assembled 60,984th FC in 1969)
I now know that the Engine was replaced @ 76,670 miles (cooked her towing huge load of wood!) with another grey from an EK. However the owner chose to use the Oil Bath Air Cleaner from the original Motor (How lucky was that).
My guess then she's a fairly late build and a real "Belmont" trades vehicle. I have since fitted and Air Chief Radio and a Lucas Heater so now she's a "Kingswood"

13  General / General Board / FC P/van numbers on: June 05, 2008, 04:35:06 AM
???Excuse my ignorance but where exactly do you find the Chassis Number? My Van is in storage and a little difficult to get to so I don't want to shift things around too much looking for it. BTW the reason I'm asking is I came across the serial numbers the other day I had written down and 'filed' but I didn't know then there was a seperate Chassis No. For your records
Body: 2 04-10008-A
Trim: 194-653

Cool Didn't think much about the indicators until now! I was actually thinking of wiring them into the factory lenses but now I'm thinking I may destroy some FC History if I do. I'm gonna leave it! Thanks guys! Great Forum!

Hey Guys! thanks for the replies.
I have done a little homework on the origin of the after market indicators. Apparently it was bought new under some Farm scheme whereas indicators were not compulsory?Huh??!!!!! (You could just stick your arm out to indicate you were turning right). An old local Copper had an interest once in buying the Van and so, he knew about it. Unfortunately he has now passed away, but I did get to talk to him on several occasions about the car.
An FE I could understand but an FC was pre wired fr indicators wasn't it? I wonder then if it was a very early FC, maybe a crossover model or something? I will pic the compliance plate and maybe one of you gurus can nut it out for me.
I reckon I get it with the multiple pics now, just need to take some more. Thanks for the info.
Great Forum! Glad I found it!
