9  General / General Board / Club Stands at Melburg Or Bust on: December 04, 2007, 09:49:06 AM
For those of you who don't already know, Melburg Or Bust is a new chrome-bumper car show coming to Victoria Feb 2 next year.  One of the key ideas behind the show was to have no segregation between makes or styles of cars, so that everyone would get a chance to be inspired by all that was on show.  That concept stands true, but I have been approached by several clubs about putting on their own mini displays at the show, and after much consideration, it has been decided that a limited number of clubs may have areas just outside of the display car area where they can display a few of their clubs cars and a bit of information on the club.

Heres the Details:
Club/Forum Stands will be between the public carpark and the display vehicles, so they will get lots of foot traffic.  The price of a club stand will be $50, for which the club will get enough space to display 4 vehicles which relate to the club as well as a large trestle table with all of the necessary club information, thats less the cost of displaying the 4 vehicles on their own in the main display. We hope this will be a geat opportunity for clubs to find new younger members who may not have known of them previously.

If your club would be interested in a spot please let me know quickly, as club spots are limited.

No, I dont study at monash, It was simply the most convenient venue.  ready marked parks, space for upto 350 cars plus the displays and amenities all without beign too far from the city.
12  General / General Board / Re: Help Needed to build 1st prize for Melburg Or Bust! on: November 26, 2007, 05:33:27 PM
Actually, all of the major costs of the show have been covered and everythign is well under control, I had the idea of doing somethign very unique for as prize as I had the time available.  Unfortunately I made the mistake of publicising the idea before I had made the necessary consultations and have now had to withdraw the concept of the first prize and replace it with something more normal.  the idea of the car was to get local businesses involved in the project and offer them some publicity, I could have put the money in myself to build the car but I thought it would be nice to get more of the community involved in the show.

Unfortunately after discussion with some legal advise Melburg Or Bust has decided not to proceed with the awarding of a Morris Minor, the legality issues that would have to be overcome simply outweigh the benifits of the prize.

Thankyou to all those who offered their support to the concept.

Melburg Or Bust will of course still be going ahead, and we welcome suggestions as to what you would like the People's Choice prize to be.

Regards
Ryan
14  General / General Board / Help Needed to build 1st prize for Melburg Or Bust! on: November 19, 2007, 09:18:23 PM
Hi All,
some of you already know about the car show i am organising for the start of next year (http://www.melburgorbust.com ) I am planning for it to be somethign really different in the carshow scene, and one of those differences is that all prizes will be voted on by the public, and First Prize, For Peoples Choice is A 2 Door MORRIS MINOR! I have just picked up the car this morning and it is looking rough.  I have very little money to spend on this show so I am looking for volunteers, preferably businesses, who will be willing to help out by donating some time and supplies to the cause.  In return any business who helps out on the Morrie will get advertising on the vehicle as well as on all promotional flyers for the show as a sponsor.

I will be doing what i can on the car including the welding, assembly and basic laboring, but there are things that i cannot afford the parts for or do not have the time/expertise for, so I am looking for:

A Spraypainter or someone willing to supply paint (or both)
A Brake specialist or someone willing to supply all necessary brake parts
A Trimmer
A Mechanic (also if someong had a moggie engine, gearbox and tailshaft in fair condition that'd be fantastic)
An Exhaust specialist
A Tyre specialist
Someone who can supply a few of the missing moggy parts
A stereo and alarm specialist would be fantastic
A Roadworthy certifier

Oh Yeah, and i need to have it complete for Feb 2 next year so that i can be given away Cheesy

If you would like to help out or can suggest someone who might, any help would be greatly appreciated, and as mentioned above you will be rewarded as well as I can with advertising through the show (not to mention return work from my future projects Cheesy ), just leave a reply on here or drop me a line at melburgorbust@hotmail.com

Thanks
MelburgOrBust

17  General / General Board / Re: Who owns these? on: November 10, 2007, 03:52:13 PM
well i recon thats a couple of damn nice cars there, i would be more then happy to be seen cruising in either one. there is a whole new generation of 'classic' drivers out there who get kicks out of driving their beauties every day, driving the sort of cars that most people cant imagine drivign anymore because they are supposed to be too slow/unsafe/underbraked/just generally old. I have a '67 122S amazon which i drive 7 days a week and i say cudos to everyone else who does similar. Infact i setup 'Melburg Or Bust' to try to highlight these daily driving younger enthusiasts (although all are of course welcome) as i recon they deserve soem respect and a chance to get to geter with their rides and have a good time.  hopefully u boys can get over to it and check out the scene (and participate by all means).  thanks for the heads up, i will have to drop a couple of flyers past Route 66 next time I'm in town.

not wanting to hi-jack your post, but if that one's sold i have a '67 8'5" Pig Board, Rob Teys shaped, needs a fair bit of work to be watertight again but is a real interesting period piece.
