1  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / 1959 FC Special Sedan on: January 21, 2012, 07:30:02 PM
I have a stripped down 1959 FC Special sedan. Its an unfinished project due to lack of time & now more so lack of space. I purchased this car back in 2008 with good intentions. Have stripped it down & have 99% of parts available, plus a few extras. Last registered in Dec 2005. Car was still running when I stripped it down, but has a 138 red motor (out of an early model Torana I believe) It also has a HR disc front end with booster. The car is in pretty good nick, but does need some rust work done still. Floor pans had been renewed but just put over the top so have been in the process of removing them & refitting properly. Car was primed when I bought it, but needs a complete rub down & redone when rust is taken care of. Good project car & I just wish that I had more time to complete it.  Asking $3600 ONO  Genuine enquiries only please. The car is located at Clare SA. Happy to provide ph no for more info to genuine people.
Will try to add some pics soon.

2  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Best grey on: May 27, 2009, 12:19:06 PM
Probably not the ideal answer I was looking for ret, but will possibly use the motor until such time that I can get hold of a proper grey motor & do a rebuild.
Great forum here guys & apreciate all the positve help etc

Cheers for that Ret. I was hoping it would be just a matter of changing the complete steering box & retaining the HR front end.
Thanks Perce

Hi my 59 FC has been fitted with a HR disc front end & booster & I think probably an EH or similar steering box & sports steering wheel. Will an original FC steering box couple back to the HR front end? Is it a relatively easy task as I am still learing as I go? Does anyone in SA have a complete FC sterring box, wheel etc available if its viable to change back?

Cheers Perce

Just an add on here Jason & Keith. I am restoring a 59 FC holden that has obviously had an engine tranplant at some stage. Engine no is; CB165233 if any of the number collectors out there can shed any light on what this motor was out of it would be appreciated. It is currently painted red, but is deff a 138 as it is embossed on the side of the block.

6  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Door Division Channels on: May 11, 2009, 09:16:49 AM
Hi Gary, thanks for the info, it all helps me work through it all, having never undertaken this sort of thing before.
What I was refering to was the actual "Division channel" as illustrated in the workshop manual, Fig 1-34 on page 35. Other info that you have given me is great for the rest, but a couple of my division cannels have rusted out mainly in the lower sections inside of the doors

7  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Door Division Channels on: May 10, 2009, 10:36:30 PM
Can anyone advise me where I can get door division channels?
I have had a look at Rare Spares & either they call them something else or I have missed them. I am going by the description given in the workshop manual.
Also the top & 2 sides of all doors has a metal channel ( Glass run channel from the workshop manual)that clips into the recesses at the top of the doors that I presume the bailey channel goes into. Or does the bailey channel incorporate the 2?

Hi Phil, I would really appreciate any pics that you may be able to post for me. At least it will give me some idea as to what the car will look like when repainted.

Also to Geoff, the correct numbers are as follow;
Trim; 308-839
Paint; 256-2051
Insert; 253-9741
Top; 256-2051
So exterior is 2 tone; Fountain Blue over Skyline Blue & interior is Viscount Blue & Florida Blue.

Cheers & thanks again guys

11  General / General Board / Paint Nos etc on: May 07, 2009, 06:31:56 PM
Hi, not sure if this is the place to post this or not.
I have just started a restoration on my FC Holden. I have had it about 14mths & it has just sat in the shed due to work commitments. Having a few weeks off has got me enthused & I have stripped the car of doors,guards etc & gutted the interior ready for sandblasting...
I have some numbers here that I hope someone maybe able to fill me in on the original colours etc as it has a coat of old primer on it at present.

On the plate is the following;
FC 225-17902-A
Trim 508-839
Paint 226 2051
Insert 253 -9741
Top 256-2057? maybe a 1

Hoping that I can gain some info here & will try to post some pics soon.
It will be a longer project due to work & finance.

Cheers Perce
