Thanks weddo, mine has rusted out particularly under the seat so dont have one to see. Do they have a rust repair panel for this area as the ones I have seen from rare spares etc seem to be only the area were you put your feet, not the floor pan under the seat. Mark

Technical Board / Restoration Help / FC Identification
|
on: June 07, 2008, 04:42:49 AM

I have finally started on the FC wagon and need some help with the date of the old girl.
The body No is FC 229-5388M which I think stands for special wagon the 5,388th of the Melbourne factory line.
Trim 254-857 Riff Red & Black
Paint 253-7773 Du-co Ascot grey over Wangarra grey
Top 253-773 (Ascot grey) Insert 253/5300 (Wangarra grey)
I think she is a mid 1959 model but the original engine is missing so I cant date it exactly. Can anyone help with modern paint No,s for the above colours and any other way of dating the wagon more exactly so I can try and get a original engine for her.
Thanks Mark-B in Tassie

Just spoke to my local rarespares dealer in Tasmania (5/6/08) and they apparently do have the guard peakes. I have ordered one for myself so will let you know if it arrives. Mark-B

Can anyone advise me on the best way to repair the floor and sills in my FC wagon. Do I replace the sills first then the floor pan or vis-a-versa. Mark_B

Question 1 I have finally picked up my first FC and now that it is home the hard work starts. When checking it out it has a old radio in it which has holden all transistor written on the front can any one tell me if this is original or has it been added later.
Question 2 Is it possible to put a EJ grey motor into the old girl with out to much trouble. At present it has a HP179 out of a EH but I would like to make it more original. Thanks Mark
