Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Fitment of an M20 behind a Grey Motor

I remember seeing an article in a magazine some years ago in regard to the forward mounted shifter. Not sure if still on this forum but one of the members made up his own and posted pictures and drawings on this site about two to three years ago. RET may be able to help out.

I have a M20 with bellhousing to suit a grey in the garage, bell housing has side mounts cast into it. (Will check brand tomorrow, but have had the box etc for twenty years now). It mounted to the back of the grey the same as the orig box and just hung there till rust got to the car and I cut it up. I also purchased through Rare Spares a M20 to grey body rear cross member kit which I never got around to using (yea its in the garage as well).

Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: locking distributor weights
|
on: February 29, 2008, 10:32:15 PM

Dean the distributor has two springs fitted to the counter weights this are there to stop the centrifugal advance from just swinging straight to full advance a soon as the distributor turns if you remove the springs and fit solid links instead so that the weights no longer can swing out this will in effect nullify your centrifugal advance without actual destroying the distributor.

Wayne you can fit the later HK T G lightswitchs as well but as stated you will have to fit spade terminals to the wires, but from the front of the dash you can not tell as the FE / FC knob shaft and bezel fit the later models. It is an easy changeover.

Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: HR steering on HR crossmember

Any one know how the steering connects up from HR into FC??? Any photos??? I think I may be missing a part (pitman arm) Does the FC steering links fit or are they short?? Nes You will need the HR pitman arm, it fits in place of the FC one without any problems, the HR steering setup leaves the FC one for dead. Make sure your steering biox is up to shape and has no slop in it.
