That's uncanny Rob, I've had similar issues and the repair piece was more or less the same size  Smiley

But no doubt your repair will outlive mine, love your work

4  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: FE glove box badge - painted red? on: March 14, 2024, 01:04:00 PM
The black "S" glovebox badge is FC Special sedan & Wagon only

FE Special Sedan script is Special Sedan is chrome
FE Special Wagon script is Station Sedan also chrome

All FE & FC Commercial & Standards had the plain no script badge

Al,

I think the bottle jack decal came from a helpful member on here, but it was a long time ago

I've cleaned & repainted these over the years, some came with the cars & some from swap meets

I had always assumed that the type with the bracket were later but could be wrong

Although it took till FB before they improved the FE - FC sedan jack by doing the rachet handle

I matched approximately the remnants of orange (not mixed) one of the jacks with the bracket appears to have grey motor grey

The instruction decals I found later after a hand painted attempt on the 1st jack which I'm pretty sure came with the FE pano

11  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: LOOKING FOR FE FC UTE VAN TOWBAR on: August 13, 2023, 11:13:10 AM
Rob, Vern,

The mythical $200  soon vanished! as by the time I had the towbar duplicated by Carasel Towbars (they did a top job) and a gooseneck bent up for the one I "found" I was well out of pocket/s

Neither were easy to fit with much swearing & skinned knuckles
12  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: LOOKING FOR FE FC UTE VAN TOWBAR on: July 27, 2023, 06:35:53 PM

Tow bar no longer required, all good, found mine... Roll Eyes thought I had one!

Made it to BH! With the kind help of Graham, Julius, and thier fellow travellers (you know who you are guys, and thier understanding partners) Boiled big time about 150 k's out of Broken Hill, then again a bit further down the road

Graham spotted a leak at the top rad hose & after tightening it there seems to be no more or only a little water loss, but it's running a bit hairy at low revs & idle & hard to start, so need to investigate

There is no water in the oil though

The amp guage shoots up as well after starting but settles down if I run the headlights on hi beam for a while

Now just need to google the nearest pub 8 ]

19  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Amp gauge wiring on: January 28, 2023, 05:22:38 PM
Have to say I've been running the Wilsonia guage set in a few cars for some time now
Only issue was a slight oil leak in one of them at the guage

No issues apart from that as yet but mine are on grey not red motors all with generators

I have installation instructions somewhere so will post when found

Alex  posted  a feature on a 50 amp version in Accesory of the week, perhaps that model might be more suited to an alternator
