I have heard using trans fluid but I can't confirm this. I don't think it's rocket science really all you are trying to do is provide lubrication to the vanes and after that make sure it will burn during combustion. I think any light cheap lube will do the trick

Gary, Yes got the photos thanks for that just what I was after. It sounds like too much fuel but that carby is a monster. With regard to lube for the vanes, oil at ratio of 1 pint of oil to every 5 gallons of fuel is what is recommended. Caster oil is what they used back in the day but I have read that this may gum up the vanes after time. Judson superchargers as used on VWs are a similar sliding vane type charger, used a device called a Marvel Mystery Oiler which mounted on the firewall, it is basically a glass bottle 1 pint with an adjustable valve to meter the flow of oil which was drawn into the inlet manifold of the supercharger. There are a couple of similar devices around from Redex and Ampco. With regard to water injection there are some kits around that use a 12V pump, solenoid and controller which only inject water when the boost reaches a predetermined pressure. Anyway enough ranting keep it up and keep us in the loop.

What are the options with regard to crank pulleys mounted on the balancer for grey and red sixes? I'm after two extra vee belt grooves. Will 253 or 308 pulleys fit or were there pulleys for power steer and aircon for red sixes available. Also are these pulleys interchangeable between red and greys

Technical Board / Modification Help / Mallory dual point distributor

I am having trouble with my red motor I have replaced the fuel pump fuel filter and have put a new 2barrel Holley carb on to replace the old one. These parts have made a big difference but I still have the original problem. After the engine has been running (driving) for a while it coughs and splutters then dies and won't restart until everything has cooled down. It is running an electronic Holden distributor. Now, I have a brand new Mallory dual point dissy which I have had for years. My problem is I have never used or set up one of these so I am after some advice on how to set it up or should I buy another electronic one. The thing is the only new electronic distributors are not Bosch and have heard some are better than others (lucky dip). Anyway I'd like to hear what you blokes think.
