I still like checking in on this forum. Search facility has come very handy. Technical info retrievable. Members have helped me with interest in vehicles interstate. Can't get that on Facebook.

For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / Re: Black 1957 FE special

Hi ken.
You are probably correct with the fine grain vinyl but I all was thought it was leather on appearance.
Probably made the assumption as it has lasted a long time & reading something on the special.
...& was going off the info from the seller.
I will not mention leather and FE from now on. (Honestly didn't know they were all vinyl)
Regards Peter.

For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / Black 1957 FE special
|
on: December 05, 2015, 01:26:55 PM

Hi I have been on the forum for a number of years and would like to offer this car for sale…in the hope it goes to an enthusiast to retain its Holden History.
It is a 1957 Holden Special Sedan (Black duco with Red on Red fall leather interior.) It is a very good car. I am the 3rd owner of FE Holden which is stock.
Full Victorian Registration with the Original Black and White Plates Stainless steel exhaust. Brand new tyres/ fuel pump etc. Everything works. No rust & very clean underneath.
It has been restored by the previous owner with the car being totally stripped to a shell and flipped onto its side for underneath work/ detailing. All hang on panels ie doors, boot lid, bonnet, painted separately before re fit. Everything, perfectly aligned. I have continued the up keep and spent a few $$$$.
Original motor removed and another motor was source which was also totally re-built (Now has a mere 1765 miles). This vehicle is garage with a soft cover. Storage and paying rego on 3 cars is my reluctance to put this up for sale. Asking 20k Peter

Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Fuel gauge stuck

That's very interesting because the braided line was removed and straight after the gauge goes to the right. There are a number of threads on the forum with quite a few owners experiencing this issue. Frustrating not having tell tale tank guide for fuel.
I need to check the sender to gauge wiring / loose connections / earth . Braided line earth to engine point is now fuel hose non metal to fit a inline fuel filter before the pump. Also I have found the electrical diagram colour coded wiring on photo bucket loaded up as a link on the forum....so much better than the manual.

Hi Scott. Yes I still had the braided fuel line to the vaccum fuel pump but now removed for a fuel hose. I am also replacing steel fuel line from pump to carby brand new.
I will look at the wiring...bit of electrical tape over the years hiding things.
I will see if that get the gauge moving.
Thanks
Peter

Technical Board / General Technical / Fuel gauge stuck
|
on: November 19, 2015, 03:20:57 PM

Hi. I have half a tank of fuel and recently changed to a new fuel pump replacing the vaccum fuel pump which was leaking fuel. I have electric wipers so no need for the vacuum line. Somehow the fuel gauge is now stuck showing full. The gauge working fine prior to replacing the pump. Q. Does the vacuum line have anything to do with this?
I don't think it is electrical or fuel sender ...it is something I have done replacing the fuel pump. I do have an inline fuel filter from pump to carby which is on top of the motor so not sure about this?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated
Peter

Hi.
I did the research on the forum and found the recommendation for 185/80 X 13 as Geoff has explained
I have purchased Sumitomo tyres which make a big difference to the crossplys I had.

Hi.
Can anyone recommend a place to get tyres in Vic.
I am replacing all 4 on stock rims and like the whitewall look but seems only one tyre outlet is selling antique tyres.
Driving today and one tyre completely stuffed ...so I have to buy 4 to match because can't replace that one.

Alfio's " Rosie" has made an appearance on Facebook , slightly customised by the new owner ...but still looking good. And Alfio's customised Fe "Teresa " the one he did after "Rosie" has also made an appearance on car sales. Both cars re appeared on the same day ...all we need is Dark and Stormy the Fc to come out.
