Just adding on what FCVAN said i think youll find that the mud getting flicked up off the tyre's once stuck in those area's hold's the moisture and then you get the huge amounts of rust that you see.
When i did mine recently i had piles and piles! of dirt coming out of all the thing (i should have put in jars and sold as NOS dirt! Grin Grin)

Hi Brad,

I know when i pulled off the front gaurds on my fe ute i found exactly the same thing. The sub frame was ok in that section but just after the end of the sill i have big holes. the previous owner has tried to reinforce the area by adding boxing to hold the bolts for the sub frame. But the whole things rusted pretty bady and it was quit a job to get the sub frame. After some grinding, beltin of the hammer and chisel i finally go the bolts out.

Otherwise though the rest of the car isn't in too bad a  condition

Hope that helps
it's just my experience though

6  Technical Board / Modification Help / 202 4 186 on: July 30, 2002, 05:09:09 AM
I was wondering if it is possible to change over a 202 if the car already has a 186 without getting a engineers cert. If the car has already had one for the 186. Also i was told that if the car has been registered in the past with the modified motor ie, a 186 then u don't need to get another engineers cert. is that true and how do i find out the registration history of the car?

11  Technical Board / Modification Help / Ej Tongue on Hr Crossmember on: July 25, 2002, 08:17:17 AM
Hey guys,

I was speaking to ken yesterday and he said that when the hr front end was installed on my ute they guy who did it didn't change the tongue that joins up to the crossmember with one that came off and eh or ek. What i was wondering was is an ej one exactly the same or is it different.

Hey Guys
Just reading here about your rotiserie sounds great if you can get it to work for you. Good Luck! But on another note though i think you will find that the 'rivnut's' that u are talking about if i understand correctly are actually called nutserts and they are installed with a nutsert gun.
Hope im right and i hope that helps if you are looking for them.

Good Luck with the rotiserie!

Ok thanks for that
Now it seem's i face quit a problem because i need both top and bottom (i can stick my fingers through one side and and out the other in both corners.
So if i need to make the top sections myself, what's stoppin me from remaking the whole thing myself. I realize you probably can't so how do i go about making the other two top sections.

Thanks Once Again

Thanx for the advice fellas
i spoke to ricki (the panel beater) yesterday and he said to leave the ute in the original undercoat. And then as he repairs it he will take it back to bare metal and then spray it in a coat of undercoat.

Ok i have looked on the website ah i found the section but i amm unsure of the three pieces that i need
i need the left and right rails that run parralell to each other which then come up to the piece that runs parrallel with the bumper bar at 90 degree's (the third piece that i need
So my question is which three pieces is it?
And what do i do with them when i get them do they need to be welded in the same fashion as what the old ones were or....? How far back does the rail extend....?
