I know the is a bit broad, but ill explain: my brother is buying back the car i have now and need another car soonish
My old man has threatened of buying a camry or corrolla or something for me, however after having an EH i dont think i can do it. he doesnt mind the old cars either so im just looking for something honest and with a bit of character.
Im looking for anything (from fe-hr) that wont bugger me around, doenst have to be perfect at all, just as little rust as possible and good strong mechanics.
I cant do any big restorations, however i wouldnt mind a few niggles for me to iron out.
If anybody has anything in mind please let me know... save me from a possible automotive nightmare.
im located in the central west NSW, but dont mind a bit of a drive to pick something up
cheers

thanks a lot for the info RET and dave,
im keen to keep a hydramatic in there for originality's sake, but trimatics seem to be everywhere.
i think ill have to see how much work has to be done on the original 'box and go from there. at least i now have some other options.
thanks again

Technical Board / Modification Help / gearbox question
|
on: April 19, 2006, 02:28:23 AM

ive got an old original hydramatic auto on a 179 red motor thats seems to be due for a major rebuild, as it flares constantly between gears and takes waaaay to long to choose gears. is there anything to look out for or be aware of if i choose to replace it with a trimatic auto of a similar vintage?
any info would be greatly appreciated. cheers

Technical Board / General Technical / fuel guage problem
|
on: November 07, 2005, 03:12:31 AM
|
driving along the other day, going up a hill on a stinking hot summer day i ran out of freakin petrol out in the country and had to wait for my old man to come around with a jerry can to fill her back up. my fuel guage just sits on full constantly now no matter how much petrol i have in the tank.. and speaking to an auto electrician he tells me i have to dissemble the fuel tank to get to the actual sensor in the tank.
has anyone had this experience before? what options do i have of combatting the problem?
any opionions greatly appreciated.

hey col thats funny,
moved into morpeth about two years ago, number 7 high street at my oldies house. im at boarding school at the moment finishing year twelve so im ony at home once a month or two for now. yeah i know raworth, maybe seen one of yours parked on the street on the way to east maitland, cant be certain but will keep an eye out next time though. if you ever see a cream EH scooting around with a young bloke at the wheel its probably me, pretty tight-knit sort of area there, bit of a chance of running into each other. for the newcastle area i know a place called 'city spares' that apparently stock a lot of old holdens, gonna check it out when im home next.
cheers

hey Rob saw your EH on this thread (very clean mobile), and couldnt resist but get a bit off topic. are you going to run that at standard? ive inherited a 65 or 64 cream and ivory roof EH 179 HP and am over the moon with it. do you know how to interpret the engine/chassis plates into information?
thanks.
