Hi guys, I've seen this many times as an appretice mechanic. Working for a Brake & Clutch firm, we sold many brakeshoes & wheel cylinders over the counter, & it was mainly the backyarders that stuffed up by re-using the old split pin, not using the correct size split pin, not 'spliting' the pin correctly or using a nail or wire. For the sake of a couple cents (& your LIFE) its always wise to replace split pins. We also washed, inspected an re-greased wheel bearing EVERY TIME front brakes were replaced. G'Day Fella's I fitted HR disc's & calipers to an HD. The original HD standard wheels fitted back on with no clearance problems. I assume the wheels are HD, i would have to look at the wheels again to see if a small hole has been drilled to determine if they are for disc or drum brakes.Or if they have been changed over the years. ![Wink](http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I'll let you know by Saturday. Did you fit the dizzy? If so you may have lined up the dizzy oil pump drive but may not have lined up the dizzy gear to the camshaft correctly. This will throw the timing out causing the spark to fire early before the piston gets to the top of its stroke therefore slowing the engine down. Are the leads on right?Have you got a decent size battery?(at least 380CCA).Does it backfire through the carby or exhaust? With #1 piston just BTDC on the compression stroke the rotorbutton should be pointing to #1spark plug lead on the dizzy cap.Hope this helps you out. Check that the float does ' float' and not sink to the bottom of the floatbowl. The float can develope pin holes causing the inside of the float to fill with fuel. Remove the float & gently shake it to determine if it has fuel in it & as a 2nd test place the float in a container of fuel an see if it does float or partically sink. Also check the needle & seat for wear or dirt. As a general rule the fuel level should be at or just above the float pin pivot,(maybe slightly higher for performance motors). Also make sure the float is free to move and not touch the sides of the floatbowl. REGARDS SEB

I spoke to a guy with a 465 4 barrel holley on a DINGO manifold fitted to a VH commodore with a "worked" Cam and standard Auto. He said it had the power of a V8 and fuel consumption was slightly less better than a standard VH 6 cyl,but it idled at 900-950RPM in Park.

G day Mark, Try a 3.36:1 diff ratio. Extra clutches and a trans oil cooler to take the abuse. A shorter bellhousing from an VK Commodore and Conrods from a Blue Motor 6 cyl. Hope this helps.

hi Brendan i remember about 5 years ago or more u could still buy the rollers 4 HQ 2 HZ, i read this in Street Machine Magazine. D'ont think their the same size but u could always adapt the roller guide off the HQ 2 HZ 2 the FE/FC,failing that the rollers on some shower screens might be easily adapted. See your local hardware shop 4 rollers 2 suit OLDER sliding windows. U could always do a cut and shut on the lifting arms by fitting latter model ones with the same roller guides 2 suit.
