HI Guys Just my 5 cents worth, i've only ever seen one HP V8 engine block which came out of a HK/T/G, fitted to a HQ one tonner back in the early 80's. Are these engines rare? Regards Seb

Mal Wood Geargoxes in QLD supplies tailshaft yokes to suit Supra g/boxes that take Ford size uni's, which are the largest size u can get 4 strength. Don't know if Celica yokes are the same.

Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: How Painless are painless wiring kits?

When i rewired '2BRITE' about 8 years ago it cost $40.00 to buy all the coloured wires to the length i wanted and all the terminals, globe holders, globes,Metal fuse holders and fuses. Two weeks on and off to do the job. Very easy to rewire the original harness. The FC workshop manual came in handy to check if the orig harness had been tampered with, which it was. Regards Seb

Also i did see a Chev sedan in the late 1980's, looked just like a VB commodore with bow tie badge on the grille and the engine looked similar to a Grey 6 and no emmission control on the engine. It was a South African personal import. Did you know that the current model Corolla and Camry Sportivo's are made in South Africa. NOT THAT IT MATTERS Regards Seb

Yes the HQ was exported to South Africa, but only with the 138, the HR was also exported to South Africa with a 253 V8 and 4 speed opel gear box. If i'm not mistaken it was only available in the wagon. I clearly remember reading this when i was an apprentice mechanic in the early 1980's. When i told my boss he said the info i had read was correct and was surprised i found this info because not many mechanics knew about this.He even asked me in which book i read it. The only floor shift opel gear box i ever worked on was a 6cyl HD or HR wgn in the late 1980's.(carried over to the HK). I have also worked on a HJ or HX wagon with a 253 V8 and 3 speed manual column shift and also a F#~D XB wagon 302 V8 3speed manual column shift. I do'nt recall any 138's in LH Torana's but did see some early LH's and early HX's with front drum brakes. Sorry for getting carried away but you may find this useful or file it in the useless information bin. Regards Seb

I've always said "if your happy with the service, tell some one else, if not tell the person concerned". If they fail to fix the fault i would display the product along with the receipt at Car Shows and Swap Meets. Bad news travels faster than good news. Just my 5c worth. Regards Seb

Sorry for the mis-information, ( it was late that nite), when buying new master cylinders for the HR there is a sticker on the master cylinder body advising to be used for 'DISC BRAKES & CLUTCH'. I think it was PBR that stated this. Thanks for picking that up Dr_Terry. Regards Seb

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: White Wall Tyres

I had Atlas white walls fitted to radial tyres, the tyre stained the white wall and the white wall put a groove in the side of the tyre. I latter was told by a tyre dealer that there are 2 different types of white walls, one for radials and one for cross plys. Regards Seb

I was told gold for FE & blue for FC. Never seen or heard of other colours b4. Can any one post photo's on the Forum? I'd like to see the other colours. Could there have been a colour for each different body type or model. Here's a WILD guess, could the colours represent the birthstone gems for each month of the year? Then again, the gem for May is Emerald, which is green, which i've never seen on an FC, the characteristic of Emerald is love, and i love the FC. . Still, it would be great if we why the different colours? :-/. Regards Seb
