Keith, EJ/EH columns are a suitable length for an FC; spline the same, so maybe easy to modify either the column or even the FC wheel to suit?
Machine an adaptor plate (hub) to marry the two?

 The ACT government  has recently introduced "Smart Card" technology for use on all ACTION services. As part of that roll out all ACT Seniors card are now able to be used as bus tickets.
