21  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Fc ute side trim on: September 23, 2022, 03:49:40 PM
Hi Laszlo, I take it this trim piece is longer than the one on a sedan. Have you thought about using the sedan one and welding on an extension i.e. the piece from a sedan rear door to get the length required? Doug

Hi Wookie, which one are you after? FE and FC came out with either a German (black in colour) or Australian (Blue in colour) manufactured dissy.

ID Numbers for 132 cu in are:
FE BR30
FC BR36

If you have a FB-EJ motor or bored out to 138 cu in:
FB BR41
EK BR50
EJ BR54

The FB-EJ dissys are Australian and blue in colour. EK-EJ do not have the grease cap.

Thanks to Ken all is right with the world again. Please note that it pays to ensure the interior light wiring is not caught by the spring behind the dash. Doug

Thanks Ken, I have a couple of leads on some 'Garden Art' close to home that I need to check out before committing to your offer. Hopefully I can get permission to liberate one if available, I will let you know in the next couple of days.

Bugger, you would think a clutch pedal spring would last more than 64 years. Has anyone got one they are willing the sell or trade.

32  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Cowl vent on: October 22, 2021, 11:31:16 AM
Hi Laszlo,

No real trick to it, open the vent and undo/remove the pivot screw from the vent lever (flat tip screwdriver) then unscrew the connecting rod from the vent (count the number of turns to undo, this will assist when installing). Once the connecting rod is removed, from memory, there are four mounting screws (two on each side) up under the dash securing the pivot mounts. Once undone the vent lifts out with a little bit of jiggling.  Doug

35  Technical Board / General Technical / Rear Door Card Top Stainless Steel Trim on: October 15, 2021, 07:06:07 PM
Hi All, I have been sorting out some trim bits and have come across a pair of rear door card top stainless steel trims that are to short for my FE. FE trim is 2' 6 and 1/16" long the ones I have are 2' 4 and 5/16 long, are they FJ or FB/EK? Doug
36  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Carbi Question on: September 17, 2021, 11:51:46 AM
Just to let you know the outcome of my J Series engine rebuild, block was bored out to 3.125 i.e. 142 cu in, and rebuilt with standard J series cam and BXOV-1 carburetor (.051 main jet). All went well, however, the car was surging slightly when cruising or under prolonged load, changed up to a .053 main jet and all is well. Marvelous what two thou can do. Thanks Doug
37  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Inside of front guard coating on: September 16, 2021, 08:40:21 AM
Original isn't always the best, evidenced by the amount of rust that has been cut out of old Holdens over the years.

Thanks Ken, that helped me sort out some of my old clips. It would appear that the front door upper belt clips were changed between FE and FC. Do you per chance have a picture of the clips used to hold the HOLDEN and SPECIAL on the boot.  Doug
