no worries, mate; if I helped out like this a hundred times over, I'd still be in debt to this forum and its members...  Smiley

Weddo, keep the updates coming please!  Smiley

(and the only time you should REALLY get worried about the 'noises' is when they all suddenly disappear!  Wink)

Waynos, these chrome nuts may stick out more than you'd like... When fitted, they are 41mm proud of the nut seat. From Armadale Auto Parts; go to their site, then 'Wheels Hubcaps and Accessories' then 'Hubcaps and Wheel Trims'... now $90 a set with 'installation kit'  Shocked
They are more of a 'domed bullet' - no sharp point. Anyhow, some pics -

cheers, jack

164  Galleries / Members' FEs and FCs / Re: my ute again on: March 26, 2012, 08:21:04 PM
jack,are the bullets long?

not really; I'll measure them and get a pic for you tomorrow...  My front rims are only 5 x 14; they look OK on these narrow rims. I used them to replace chromed closed 'flat-top' nuts; they only stick out  about 1/2" more than the flat-top ones; maybe less, and they're more domed than pointy.
(but I usually run baby moons over them anyway...)

Waynos, I got a set of chrome bullet wheel nuts from armadale auto parts; think they were about 50 or 60 bucks a set with 4 lockers and 2 sockets to siut the plain and lock nuts. can put a pic up if you want...

cheers, jack

The 2-tone blue FC certainly looks like Steves...  If so, it's a very nice car, and has (I think?) a V6 Chev fitted.
168  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: What Rims are these? on: March 07, 2012, 02:35:25 PM

as john said; and the rim is almost certainly HT/G...

169  General / General Board / Re: HELP ... Standard Wheel Centre Hole Size on: March 07, 2012, 02:30:25 PM

Dave; just measured what I think is a standard FC rim - 63 mm

I reiterate.... you're getting too frickin' old to pick on  Tongue

Ahhh  Smiley it's a lovely thing....   Smiley

(who said respect for the elderly was dead in this modern age?  Wink  Cheesy)

171  Galleries / Members' FEs and FCs / Re: FC Holden 1959 on: February 15, 2012, 09:28:55 AM

Well, (breathes huge sigh of relief  Tongue) I got out of that relatively unscathed... Smiley

Any 'flames' seen on the shiney thingy are only reflections; it's definitely a fair dinkum ridgy didge genuine NON-FLAMEY item...
(and there's NO WAY anyone will convince me to remove the ghost flames painted under the bonnet  Angry)

It should be noted that as stock HK rims have a different offset to HT/G they wont fit under the back of my car without using spacers (and that's naughty...) due to the XU1 diff; hence the use of an HT rim.
The 'NZ Rugby' tyre was used because it was in good nick, the right OD (185/80/14) to match my rear wheels, and most importantly, was already in my spare tyres department... but when I win tattslotto, I'll buy a new whiteband one. Wink

I'm also amused that the non-matching trim ring and the lack of a baby moon hubcap attracted no flack!

And I'll reluctantly accept the "you're just getting too fricken' old to pick on" but be assured that I'll definitely be filing that one away for future defence  Grin

Anyhow, I think I'll go for a cruise around now... (with the bonnet and boot shut) Grin Grin Grin

but I AM a bit concerned about just what 'suggestions' she may come up with next...

173  Galleries / Members' FEs and FCs / Re: FC Holden 1959 on: February 14, 2012, 02:50:09 PM
well!  excuuuuuuse me for caring!  Tongue Angry

Regardless of your comments here is the priority list:

(1) bloody flamey shiney thing
(2) white spare wheel

Angry Angry Angry Angry

And I want visual proof too! The list is yet to be made!  Angry

 Kiss Kiss Kiss

I must be overdue to cop a rocket for not tackling the above 'list', but I've got good excuses  Embarrassed work's a bit full-on this time of the year; also the Leader of the Opposition got real crook before Christmas and unfortunately stayed ill for the best part of a month, so my prime consideration was being nurse, housekeeper, cook, etc...
Luckily for me, she's pretty much back up to speed now, so I've had a little time to spend on the FC.
(She's obviously much better; she's criticising my grammar - reckons that in the preceding sentence there should be a full stop after 'pretty' and that the rest of it is completely superfluous... Wink)

Proof as demanded...

the bloody NON-FLAMEY shiney thing

and the new 14" colour co-ordinated spare wheel

I could point out that these items are never seen while driving the car and are therefore irrelevant, and I could infer that the instigator of these 'improvements'  Roll Eyes may possibly be a pedantic, perfectionist, SCW-ish person...

[but I wont, because a) I'm not that incredibly stupid and totally heedless of my own wellbeing, and b) she's right...  Embarrassed Roll Eyes Undecided Kiss Kiss Kiss]

but I AM a bit concerned about just what 'suggestions' she may come up with next...

cheers, jack

175  General / General Board / Re: Looking for FC Wagon NSW Rego EBO180 on: February 06, 2012, 08:38:03 PM

I've heard of many perfectly good reasons for people wanting to locate/buy back/restore/modify old Holdens, but A_C, yours is by far the best yet!

Given your affiliation, maybe it's worth keeping up the search? Who knows; maybe someone bought it cheap and done it up after it was traded?

Slim chance, I know, but worth persisting in your case?

Good luck...  Smiley Smiley

cheers, jack

Looking good JB,have you considered rolling the inside lip of your guards (even just a bit)?Hate for them to catch as you are turning into a driveway or similar.Makes a mess when they do. Undecided

very good advice. I found out the hard way what happens when a front tyre catches a guard lip... just after a new paint job   Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed Roll Eyes

Very impressive, Craig!  Cool Cool

(but you knew I'd say that... Wink)

BTW, rather than thanking me, thank Kathi - there was a hell of a lot of her influence shown in my interior...  Smiley

Haven't tried them myself, but a panel beater mate who has 6 tri-5 Chevs (most in beautiful condition) wont go anywhere else for chrome -
