As long as you use the SG rated oil for the older engines you should be safe. I wouldn't go using a SL grade oil in an old grey or red due to the high concentrate of additives in the oil which may deteriorate the original seals and gaskets. On the other hand if the grey or red has been reconditioned using modern gaskets and seals the SL/Current grade oil is fine.

I got mine at Repco but they were for the brake hoses, shouldn't be too hard to get other sizes. You could also try the hydraulic hose manufactures like Enzed or Earls.

Has anyone got a current/valid part number and brand for an FC rear axle seal. Coventry's keep supplying the incorrect seal. Seal diamentions would also be appreciated. Don't want to remove the old one until i have a replacement.

I use Gulf Western Oil, Competition 50 Plus SAE 25W-70 Hi Performance SG/CD high viscosity engine oil. Ideal for hard revving and heavily worked engines, oh and suitable for worn engines and cheaper than some Big Name Brands.

I'd say the PCV valve is not working. Disconnect the PCV valve with engine idling and place finger over valve. The engine rpm should drop and a "click" should be heard as you place finger over valve. If this is not the case check that the valve is not blocked or the hose at the manifold end has not harden and collapsed on the inside. If you have the breather pipe type on the rear of the rocker cover then make sure the oil filler cap is clean & the breather pipe is not blocked. You may have to check for blockage inside the rocker where the breather is connected. If you have a PCV valve fitted it must have the plain sealed oil filler cap. If you have the breather pipe it must have the vented oil cap. If you still have this problem the oil contol rings are gummed up and/or you may have used a thicker oil . Hope this helps.

Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: hq-hj,hx,hz stubs, same???

Ken you've jiggled my brain. The KPI angle is different on HZ-WB due to the upper control arm being in a different position to the HQ-HJ. The stub itself should be the same. The steering arm bolted to the stub on HQ's is shorter than the HZ, another reason why the HQ had heavy steering. HZ steering arms were fitted to HQ's as a quick fix to over come He-man arms. Can't help on the difference of the HK,T & G arms.

All stubs up to WB & Torana will fit the HR front end. They all have the same tapper on the ball joints. HZ & WB stubs have a different KPI angle giving lighter/easier steering on the original car. Remember Radial Tuned Suspension badge on the HZ. Torana stubs should not be used as often been read due to the Ackerman principle from memory. (steering angle on turns?) As for fitting rotors, i would fit the rotor and caliper that suits the stub along with the rim. AS long as the rear rims are the same as the front. Fitting HQ on, Torana or HK discs will change the front track measurement compared to the HR track. Disc thickness and diameter are different. I have disc rotor measurements of HK & Torana to compare to the HR if you like. This will tell you how far out your track would be. Hope this helps you out.

Have u the correct coil for the dist? It must b the HEI type. Ohm reading is approx 900 ohm on primary side & approx 7000 ohm on secondary side of coil. Check that the dist shaft is not bent & causing polling. Are the 2 screws that hold the ign module tight? The special grease under the module could be dried up. Hope this helps
