121  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: removing heater hoses on 5L engine on: July 09, 2012, 01:07:56 PM
Shannon, you should be able to buy rubber cups that fit over the hose outlet that is then secured with a hose clamp. Holdens use to supply them specifically to blank off hose outlets that are no longer required. It looks alot neater than looping the hose from one outlet to the other. This is another option if you don't want to go to the effort of tapping the hole and fitting a tapered plug.

Hi Pink, if you don't have any luck buying a set, try Retrorods on http://www.retrorods.net.au. They make all types of spats and may be able to help you.

123  General / General Board / Re: Repro outer Sills on: June 20, 2012, 08:23:51 AM
Hi Daimien,
I used Craig Vane's sill panels and found them to be of good quality. The profile was accurate and the guage of the metal was good. My only concern was that one panel was slightly larger than the other. When they arrived packaged up one sill fitted neatly over the other so it was a couple of mm's larger than the other. It created a bit more work to fit but it wasn't impossible to rectify. They were alot cheaper than Rare Spare's as well.
124  For Sale and Wanted / Parts For Sale / Commodore fuel tank on: June 15, 2012, 12:03:45 PM
I have a near new VU Commodore ute petrol tank to sell. It comes complete with the internal fuel pump. Coming from a ute it has not been exposed to the elements and looks brand new. It is ideal for an FE/FC sedan that is getting a fuel injected V6 or V8 transplant. I am asking $150.00 for it and it is located in Adelaide.
Regards Ole.

The FC isn't finished yet. I went to their open day in December last year and I regularly check their website. It hasn't progressed much since then. I think its like alot of us, they have to save some more money before too much more gets done. I certainly know that feeling!

133  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: fc sills on: February 28, 2012, 11:47:17 AM
Hi Greg,
I recently fitted repro sill panels from Craig Vane Sheetmetal, I think he trades as Rust a Problem in Qld. His panels closely resemble the originals but don't come with the formed ends. One problem I had with them was that he sent me a pair and they came packaged one on top of the other for ease of shipping. I didn't notice at the time that the top panel was slightly larger than the bottom panel and that created a bit more work. Other than that the quality and service was good.

Hi Wasim,
Have you seen the February edition of Cruzin magazine? On page 35 there is picture of a Sth Aust. FE with the same type of quad headlight guards as yours that dates back to 1971.

Hi Ed,
What a fantastic example of a beautifully restored wagon. I am currently building the same model and colour wagon for my son. If it came up to 25% of the standard of yours I'd be very happy.

Regards Ole.
137  For Sale and Wanted / Reproduction Parts / Re: TAYLORS REPO on: August 24, 2011, 02:21:35 PM
I recently bought some panels from Ray Taylor and found him to be very obliging. I got the impression that he's not overly familiar with sending packages via couriers, his preferred method is through Australia Post. I organised my own courier pick-up with him and I had my package in less than a week.

140  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Colour dilema and bits and pieces on: July 18, 2011, 12:19:22 PM
Hi,
I have a pair of NOS rear quarter panels that both have the seam in them as shown in your photo. The quarter panels where made in 2 parts because of the complex nature of the pressing. That seam is where the 2 parts where spot welded together. They were then lead wiped to fill in the seam or left as they were if the chrome fins were going to be fitted. Also for what its worth, I think you should keep it as a taxi.
Regards Ole.
