101  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Door Alignment - Bending hinges on: March 14, 2013, 05:43:13 PM
I have a similar problem. The original driver's door that came with the car fitted quite well but is fairly rusty. I have a good replacement door, but when it is fitted the top corner by the "A" pillar is recessed about 10mm lower than the top corner of the front guard. From memory this was the same problem when that door was fitted to another car. Will bending the top door hinge rectify that problem or can I pack it out with spacers? If I use either of those methods will that affect the door rubber sealing capabilities?
Any advice would be appreciated. (Sorry for hijacking the thread but I thought that it is a related topic.)
Regards Ole

Glenn, if you get the chance visit Donut Derelicts. It is a casual car show on the corner of Adams and Magnolia Ave , Huntington Beach. It is on every Saturday morning from about 6.30 am. It is held in the car park of a shopping centre with a Donut and coffee shop as the meeting point. It has been going since the mid 1980's and has a great friendly atmosphere. Well worth the effort. Enjoy your trip.
103  For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / Re: fe sedan for sale $2000 with photos on: March 07, 2013, 08:33:40 AM
I think it looks great and good value too. Common sense woul dictate that you would clean it up to display it in its best appearance rather than covered in dust. Good luck with the sale.
Regards, Ole.
104  Technical Board / Modification Help / Ecotech engine mounts on: February 24, 2013, 03:13:34 PM
Hi all, I'm looking for some advice or opinions on which engine mounts I should use when fitting an ecotech V6 into my son's FC wagon. Should I go with the standard mount or modify some red motor mounts to suit? It has a HR front end with a rear mounted commodore rack if that makes any difference. Any advice or photos of existing conversions would be greatly appreciated.
Regards Ole.

I like the front bumper bar on the sedan in the middle photo. It would be interesting to know where that came from.

I love the wagon especially the satin finish on the chrome trim, the one piece bumper bars, the subtle third brake light etc. Beautiful colour combination and top class finish. I look forward to seeing a feature article on that car at some stage. There are some quality cars out there!
108  For Sale and Wanted / Cars Wanted / Re: FC UTE on: February 08, 2013, 10:21:57 AM
Well done Hoon, where there's a will there's a way. I can't wait to see the progress of that build if your others are anything to go by! Obviously you purchased the ute as a promo vehicle fot tax purposes rather than a fear of your missus.
Regards Ole
109  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Rack mount position Front or Back??? on: January 20, 2013, 09:25:09 AM
Hi Nes, front mounted racks have their advantages with ease of fitment and extra clearance for exhaust etc, but if you want a better turning circle and minimal bump steer then a rear mounted rack is the way to go. I have had both and like Rick, I would never use a front mounted rack again.

Like everyone has already stated, your build is fantastic and inspirational. The quality of workmanship and attention to detail is a credit to all involved. This type of build can only portray a positive image for our sport/hobby. I have just read an article about a Chop Shop employees truck in the latest Street Machine mag and you're right, they do good quality stuff.
Regards Ole.

Hi Nes, are the extractors that you had for the V6 to suit a rear mounted rack and pinion? If so, are they still for sale?
Regards Ole.

Hi Neil, I am also keen to see your photos to help me decide whether to use Pat's extractors or get some made.

116  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Correct Power Booster Application on: July 18, 2012, 08:21:48 AM
Thanks Ken, that is exactly the type of in-depth advice I was hoping for. I very much appreciate the effort that you have put in with your response. I made some independent inquiries yesterday with a local brake specialist, while waiting for forum advice, and he pretty much echoes your advice, word for word. He didn't mention the Cal-custom option so that is a bonus. I will be running an auto transmission so I will go with the XB booster and master cylinder option. Thanks again for your advice, it is the expert advice that I expected after reading many of your previous postings.
Regards, Ole.
117  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Correct Power Booster Application on: July 16, 2012, 05:02:51 PM
Thanks for that NES232, I wasn't sure about the protocol of joining in with my own enquiry. I've checked out your photos and the others in Show us your boosters. Like you, I'm looking forward to some expert advice before I start cutting too many holes in the firewall.
118  Technical Board / Modification Help / Correct Power Booster Application on: July 16, 2012, 01:33:49 PM
Rather than steal somebody else's thunder I thought I would seek some advice along similar lines to Nes232's query re the correct power booster to use. I am hoping that Ken may be able to provide some sage advice.
I have fitted HZ Girlock calipers and discs to our FC wagon project that will be running a VE Commodore V6.
What is the best firewall mounted booster and master cylinder combo to use. I have access to an XB Ford booster, a Gemini booster or the booster from the VE donor car. If none of these are suitable I am willing to use whatever is best based on the advice I get.
Regards Ole.
119  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: steering box on: July 10, 2012, 02:43:58 PM
Dave give Jason at Transteer a call. His number is 8365 0201, his work shop is at 26 Barnett St. Glynde. They specialise in power steering, Auto transmissions etc. He rebuilt my modified steering rack. He owns a really nice modified FB sedan, is very helpful and a nice guy as well. If he can't do it I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.
Cheers Ole.

Awesome looking work JB, its very inspiring. Some other interesting cars in the background too, a Chevy Nomad and HK/T/G Monaro. Are they yours as well?
Regards Ole.
