Title: HELP PLEASE , Race Tyres
Post by: normd on February 05, 2004, 03:41:40 PM
Hi ALL
I Need a bit of help here . The tyres on my racer are pretty old , well the "wets"(treaded or grooved slicks) are 30 years old  :-[  and was wondering if you all could ask around to see if anyone has tyres that would fit  10" wide rims , 13" dia.   So if you know anyone who raced Torana XU-1's , Mazda RX-3's , Capri's , Mini's (10" x 13" fronts on them) or Clubman's who "may" have a pair (2 will get me out of trouble) in the back of the shed , PLEASE let me know.
Speedway guys may also have what I'm looking for .
Also looking for 4 "slicks" but not as urgent.

Norm  :)     (Chaser of extinct tyres  :-/ )

Harko,

Are you going to Orange? I hope so because that Norm bloke owes you a few beers, and I want to be around when he's shouting  ;D

By the way I've seen plenty of race Mini's - mainly Sports Sedans, with 13" AND 15" slicks  :o, very common now for the original Mini engines to be replaced with Toyota power units. John Rap was saying the other day they are now starting to put Honda stuff in them!!!

Norm, try calling one of the racing clubs listed here http://www.cams.com.au/Content.asp?PageID=Links Someone's got to have some....

Good Luck.

Craig.

Hey , Harko to the rescue again  ;)
Thanks mate,  wet's or grooved slicks are the most important at the moment , the 7 1/2's will get me by on the front but the rears will only be good for Orange , I don't think they'll last much past that.
Yep , like Craig said , Mini's ran 13's on the front of the Sports Sedans . Pic of Di's (Mrs) brothers Mini early 80's.
Craig , Thanks mate , that was my next avenue , Clyde Lee (Mrs , brother) used to belong to the Mini club and ARDC ,he's checking there , and I'm going to e-mail the rest of them
    Thanks Guy's.

Might be able to ask these guys for a lead or two, they sell them new, so maybe they could give out a team's number or two.

Hi Norm, had a chat with Dave and Merv tonight and they both have come up with nothing, but recommend you go to the next meeting at Wakefield in the next week or two as you will have a better chance there of finding out something.
