Title: Rocker shaft oil connector assembly
Post by: muddy unicorn on July 03, 2021, 10:27:27 PM
Hi People,

I'm chasing a rocker shaft oil connector assembly.
If anybody can help with this don't hesitate to let me know.

Thanks Heaps,
Ben.

Ben,

I have a few of the later hexagonal type.  But what kind of rocker and shaft assemblies do you have - long bolt/long bolt pedestals (FC - EJ), or short bolt - long bolt pedestals (FX - FE)?  Things get more complicated if you have the earlier style of rocker assemblies.  The oil feed changed from a cast flag-shaped connector with cups and springs to the later hexagonal type.  If you have the early, early valve gear, there'll be a collar just inside the open end of the rocker shafts.  You won't be able to use the hex fitting with this.

(Now, if you're warming the motor up, I'd suggest you forsake originality for long-term reliability and get the later style of rocker/shaft/pedestal assemblies.)

Yes Rob,
My engine originally had the older style with one short and one long leg, however...
I have another set of rocker gear with both long legs and was planning on using this as they less prone to breaking from all the talk I've heard.
My thought was that I was chasing the hex style oil feed assembly to suit this setup.
I'll be at the engine builders tomorrow so will grab the double long leg rocker gear and have an in depth look at it, hopefully it is usable.
If this is the case I'd be interested in your hex oil feed assembly.
Do you have any other information that could be of use regarding rocker gear while I'm inspecting it?
All advice taken on board here....
Thanks heaps,
Ben.
