Title: Ken's FJ
Post by: Ken's 57 on November 20, 2016, 07:18:43 PM
Hi everyone. This is my other Holden. A 1956 Special assembled in Brisbane in March of that year. Spent most of it's life in Roma so never had any real rust issues. I have owned it now for 17 years. Still has it's original engine - 261443. Body colours are Convoy Grey & Polar White. Trim is Fall Red & Canyon Beige.

Cheers, Ken

Ken,

A lovely, dead-original FJ.

Mind you, the 48 & FJ Owners' Club is always on the lookout for new members . . .

There's a club meeting tonight, as coincidence would have it.
8 pm, Pendle Hill Scout Hall, just off Civic Place, behind the shops, next to the railway line.

Sunday 27th, 48&FJ Club Annual Display Day, McQuade Park, Windsor, 9 am onwards.

Bring the car.

. . . and now you'll tell me you live in country NSW.

Rob

Cheers, Ken

There's a reason we hardly ever see Ken's lovely FE at our club events :D

RET- I'm hoping to join some of the club runs now that the FE has been mechanically re-built. It' taken almost 3 years and no shortage of heartaches, especially with the engine reco, to finally get it running right. I could almost write a book on it.  :'( :'( :'(

Hi Ken I'm hearing you. It can be difficult at times. It will be good to see you. Post some shots of the Fe.
Cheers,
Graham

Hi Graham. Below is hopefully the link to my previous post with photos of the FE.
And here are a few shots during the second rebuild of the engine. Unfortunately the original block was cracked and the fellow who said he could weld it fixed the crack alright but created two new ones. So I had to source another block. Luckily it's a 57 block (L 326188). After re-installing the engine the first time it ran like a chaff cutter. Wrong valves, wrong cam grind, cylinders were bored and not honed so when we took the head off after travelling a few kilometres there was oil on top of some of the pistons. A mate put me on to a professional in Molong who not only re-built it properly but dyno tested it as well. It now pulls 10 HP more then standard and is only bored 30 thou oversize.
Cheers, Ken

Interested in knowing what horsepower it made.
Glad you got the engine sorted sounds like it was a mess.

Gary, it was over 80. I half jokingly said I wanted it to be able to idle with a 20c coin standing upright on the rocker cover. And it did!  ;D
