Title: FireKraka
Post by: FireKraka on November 07, 2012, 06:46:33 PM
I told my wife that FireKraka was looking like a pretty lady wearing an expensive dress but with horrible shoes so I went and bought her a pair of stilettos

I love 5 spokes on FE's and FC's.. are they "Ridler" wheels?

I was contemplating a set of these for my project.

Cheers

Ed

Nice, Where's the front bar?

There is an FC identical  to that with a V6 in it at Brendale (Bris)

Thanks for the couple of comments guys I really like the stance but may have to lift it up a little for rego I have to get under it and measure to see if I am just above the 100mm allowance.

Ed yes they are Ridlers the VPW guys were good to deal with only cost $80 to get them delivered to WA and had to buy their wheel nuts as well.

Nes The front bumper is still off as the grill is not back in yet I still have a couple of things to do; FireKraka is also a V6 (Series 2 from a VP) I hope the one in Brisbane is not too identical that would be disappointing after my 12 year build maybe they copied me ha ha ::) ;D

Neil

A view of my engine bay excuse the bonnet lacing had to replace it after removing the 208 I had in there and the white intake pipe is now gone.

I changed the back to HQ/WB becuse I'm running WB discs up front with Girlock calipers maybe a mistake but it is working out for me at the moment.

Thanks guys for the comments it has been a looooong haul doing it by myself but am happy with the end result although the photos make it look better than it is.
I keep saying red ones go faster, the red is called Sunrise Red or New Red and it was a Holden Colour in the early seventies I believe and the white is called Fowlers Ivory which was a sixties Holden colour or so I am led to believe.
Hoping for rego before the end of the month now onto the EK ute project.

Went for inspection last Friday at Kelscott Motor Registery the guys there were great and as you can see my sedan is now wearing number plates.
Still have some things to do (I dont think we ever really finish) but spent all weekend out driving with my wife.
can't wipe the smile off my face.

Neil, I reckon the reason our cars are never finished is the minute we put number plates on them we can't stop driving them long enough to finish all the little jobs.  We, that's my excuse and I am sticking to it.  Congratulations on one very very nice FC.  Cheers, Graeme

Thanks guys really appreciate the comments.

Graeme you are right about the number plates being on and wanting to drive it all the time I had to stop myself from wanting to drive it to work the last couple of days and that was really only because the weather had turned bad over here in Perth.

Hi Nes
Yes mate the pod did get approved but it was funny my engineer did not make mention of it or the extractors and I had forgotten to list them in my build sheets however the inspector just said that he would add them to the permit and it was all good maybe I was lucky.
I must mention that in WA we do not get a plate that is attached to the firewall we get a paper permit that lists all of the approved modifications this must be kept in the car at all times so I assume that if you get pulled over the nice policeman can check that I have not changed anything from the approval.

And Nes it took me 14 years so I think you will be finished alot quicker than I was and be able to enjoy your car sooner I hope that the new project doesnt take as long  ;D

Regards
Neil H

Just thought I would show an update on the console I have been trying to finish still have a couple of little bits to tweek but am pretty happy with it for a first attempt.
Certainly would not want to do this as a job.
Thanks to Paul (Chopped) from the FB EK Forum for helping with the first template and the ideas.

Thought I would post a bit of an update.
I've been driving the Sedan a lot usually goes to my work office a couple of times a week (100Km round trip).
Picked up a twin throttle body manifold and a couple of overhauled VR heads and seeing that I had put a small pin hole in my radiator (slipped spanner  ::)) thought I may as well make some changes. engine originally had 175,000Km on the clock when I piulled it out of the donor and I've probably put another 15 to 30thou on it since I've been driving it.
Unfortunately the radiator has to be remade, as it was a special, in Adelaide, take a week or more and cost me just over $600  >:( >:(
Twin throttle body manifold and polished rocker covers (love that manifold  ;D)
Engine top end stripped down
(http://i67.tinypic.com/34r7s49.jpg)
VR heads sitting in place
(http://i66.tinypic.com/2v3pous.jpg)
Reason for the VR heads on my VN/VP block are that VR came with factory roller rockers and increased the compression ration from 8:1 to 9:1 engine bore and stroke were the same but the combustion camber in the head was slightly smaller.

Wow, looking good mate and that’s some serious bling there. It’ll be interesting to see how much difference the twin throttles make. I guess it’ll be hard to know if it’s the heads or throttles or both making a difference. I checked twin throttles out a while back for the VP motor and there’s differing opinions on them. I reckon your car was pretty quick anyway - you’ll be down at the Motorplex drags when this mod’s done 🏎 😊

Your right john regarding the manifolds, when I started looking at them on eBay I actually rang the guy and asked him if he had done any testing, he said no, no dyno nothing so I had held off buying one but when this one came up all painted and polished I couldn't resist.
It will be disappointing if it stuffs it up.
The heads will give some power increase hopefully I'll let you know and you can maybe play with your engine for you wagon.
I do have a set of VR heads here that would need doing up if you want them, I could do them up at work for you.

Doesn’t matter if it stuffs up mate, at least it’ll look schmicko  ;D
I’ll give you a call about the heads soon.
Cheers,
John
