Hi Smithy

Can you wait until my next rebuild when I take mine off - just have to finish Project 58 and get some miles on that first - maybe 3 or 4 years?  You're not in any hurry are you?   ;)

No, sorry I can't help but I just couldn't resist!

Best of luck with it all - I am sure with the support shown to you already you will meet your deadline without too many issues.

Thanks Pedro - obviously it was money well spent on the sex change all those years ago that you realised I'm missing the block and tackle.  ;D

Don't worry Dean - I'm not offended!  :-*

I wish you the best with your deadline - it's amazing what can be done with the right attitude and some support.  I know that working with injuries is not fun - pace yourself, try not to get too frustrated and slowly but surely you will get there!

thanks KATHI ;D
i set a deadline just for myself after years of just cruising through the rebuild and now it appears it is for a great cause so "it must be done"
i was trying to do as much of the car myself but given my current situation and lack of skills in some areas i really appreciate the support shown. i am honestly humbled.
i have said it before but i could not have even made it this far without the guys and girls ;) of this forum.........

so how about that badge now ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

cheers

Sorry Dean, NosFEratu's next rebuild isn't on the cards until Project 58 is finished - so if you can wait for that badge maybe I can help you out!  :D

Never underestimate your ability to learn and perfect new skills especially from those that are so obviously willing to help you. Remember - pace yourself and try not to get too frustrated!

And by the way ..... I lurve Purple but couldn't bear to think of NosFEratu anything but black when I rebuilt it.

Thank you Pedro

It's amazing what they can do isn't it?  Some of the top models and Bond Girls have lost their block and tackle too! Bet you didn't know they could surgically remove Adam's apples back in 1979?  Now that will really get you thinking! :D

And before anyone gets paranoid - the only thing fake about me is my hair colour..... and while that changes regularly which John says is cheaper than a new wife!  And he should know - I'm not called "KB3" for nothing!  ;)

Now where did this all start off - did you end up getting a badge Dean?

Dear Dean

While I am very happy for you that you have found a badge, I feel compelled to let you know how deeply distressed I am that you chose not to wait for mine.   :'(

I can only hope that with time these wounds will heal and that one day I can rise above these feelings of rejection and move one - but until that day comes, I will console myself with the thought that this potential union of our cars would only have served to denigrate the integrity of my badge by it being placed on a girly purple car!  ;D

Hi Dean  :-*

Now you know I love purple!   :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

So, re the cruisin' bit, John's question - "does he have enough tread on his rear tyres for them to survive you driving it?" He's a little concerned about the cost of keeping whitewalls on the van once the V6 goes in! Geez, I'm being lectured already!  >:(

I finish with my well used catch phrase - "Purple's nice!"  :D

Just wanted to see how long it would take you to bite!  ;D

Hi Dean  :-*

Pleeeeeeease forgive me. :'(  I didn't mean to say such harsh words but, I thought you would wait for my badge, and it's hard to take being passed over for someone younger! (FC vs FE).  :D

Glad you might have got the badge you need though!  Keep up the progress but pace yourself and make sure you get the distance too!

Smithy, badges sent by post today. If anyone else offers you a badge, grab it - I'm not confident that either of mine are good enough for that sweet purple thing...

I noted with considerable interest that you were going to toss the keys to Kathi in return for a badge. Now, I saw the pic of Kathi on here somewhere; given that she has internal plumbing, looks that good AND can dance, I can understand your offer of the keys for a cruise.  ;) ;) ;D

Sadly, I'm assuming that the possession of block n tackle precludes me from a similar offer???  :'( :'( :'(

cheers jack

ps   for mine, dump the mags!! stick with steelies; baby moons, full moons, bullet centre caps; whatever
but not mags...  (just my humble opinion; its your car, do what you want!)

Title: Re: quater panel badge

jack, thanks mate
the keys will be available ( for a breif period of course) to all those who have supported me in one way or another and no bias will be placed on genitals or any other bodily part for that matter, im happy to share the joy.......just let me get the thing on the road first and then to Orange ;) ;) 8) 8)

now the badge, dont panic despite its appearance bubbles is going to be a driver and is not going to be a show car, more of a show car park car though i may be tempted once or twice.....i havent had the budget to get everything new or re-done so everyone dont look too close please ;D and is not built to fry tyres ( you hearing that Kathi ;) ) just a clean driver for me..

hence the name bubbles, sonnie my partner in crime named her after i sulked at her for calling it the melinium falcon it was old rough and in primer when bought "what a hunk of junk" were her exact words, straight out of star wars :'( :'(,  bubbles is sort of like an old burlesque dancer admired from afar but a little rough up close ;D ;D ;D

one of the main reasons for mags is the fact of available or lack there of suitable wheels in the commodore stud pattern, believe me i have dwelled over this swap and had a damn hard look around  (and inside) before i made this choice. & your not alone but i appreciate your comments ;) ;) ;)

Hi Dean

The best car to have is one that gets driven.  I have been there done that and got the t-shirt (many t-shirts) with the whole show car scene.  It's great to have something that looks great driving down the road.

A tip for you (no-one else is allowed to read this bit)  :D

Keep a good shine on it, get your paint looking like a mirror and people will not see its flaws as easily!

And that piece of advice comes to you from an ex-show car person that is also an ex-dancer (not burlesque by the way!) who maybe doesn't look that good up close anymore as well.  I always say, it's amazing what a good cut and polish can do (to me as well as my car!) ;D

G'day Kathi,
Shiny v's flat is a very touchy subject around here, the last time it was mentioned i thought people were having a joke but it got out of hand very quickly between some members and stinky had to delete a few messages, i was advised not to get involved, which is a good idea if you get my drift :-X, i'm not trying to tell you what to do just passing on some advice.

Hi Pedro

I appreciate every one has different tastes - and they are entitled to have their car how they like it - just don't expect everyone to do everything the way you like.  Otherwise it would be a case of being like emos and goths who are so radical and non-conformist that they all wear a "uniform" to ensure they look different and don't conform.   ;)

My advice was to Dean who obviously has some form of shine on his paint already.  I am not about to preach!

Different horses for different courses - and I love rat rods!    And yes, I am well aware it has been a touchy subject at times but thanks anyway!

G'day kathi,
I feel the same if everybody drove the same thing it would be a boring world, i wasn't trying to offend you, like i said i was just passing on what was said to me :)

Title: Re: quater panel badge

Hi Pedro

I was certainly not offended - it takes a lot to offend me!

There will always be differences of opinion but that makes life interesting.  Most car enthusiasts appreciate all makes, models and "looks" but, naturally, everyone will have a few makes, models and "looks" that they tend to lean towards more.

From what I have seen of this forum over the years it seems to be a great blend of restorers, modifiers and those who like something a little in between, who are all quite happy to help out where they can whether it be passing on information or helping source that particular part.  :)

In conclusion in relation to this thread, it's great that it looks like Bubbles has a set of pasties again - you can't be a burlesque queen without a good set of pasties!   :o :o :o :o

very nicely put kathi ;D ;D ;D ;D, both myself and sonnie had a great chuckle at this.
after all it was sonnie, my darling partner in crime who named her bubbles.

Hi Dean

Good to know I'm a source of amusement to you and Sonnie :-*

I was getting a little concerned as you couldn't have Bubbles venturing out of the dressing room without the appropriate attire - that would change her from a respected and admired Burlesque Queen to a, well, we just won't go there!  :o

Kathi  8)

Title: Re: quater panel badge
Post by: smithy on April 18, 2008, 11:07:23 PM
sonnie likes to think of her as a retired and respected burlesque queen.

i like to think of her as mutton done up as lamb :D
but in a most loving way of course  ;) ;) ;)

Title: Re: quater panel badge
Post by: NosFEratu on April 18, 2008, 11:18:15 PM
Hi Dean

I'm sorry but you will have to point out to Sonnie, that Bubbles is not retired, she is only a bit of a recluse at the moment just like Betty Page was for years (after trying to kill those people!).  Dean is actually helping her prepare for her long awaited return to the stage - just as Hugh Hefner did with Betty a couple of years back!

Yeah I know, pretty corny but I just couldn't resist! :D

And before someone out there corrects me.  Yes, while technically Betty was a pin-up and not a burlesque dancer there is plenty of footage of her performing hoochie coochie dances - I just thought it was a pretty good comparison for you to use in relation to Bubbles being in "hiding".   ;)

Except, I'm not aware of her having such a sordid past like Betty - she hasn't tried to kill anyone has she? Or is that why she is getting the frontal lobotomy (engine replacement and upgraded mechanicals) - to ensure she doesn't endanger anyone?  But now we are straying into Frances Farmer territory!  ;D ;D
