Title: water pump
Post by: NES304 on August 02, 2006, 07:16:53 AM
Can a red motor water pump go on a grey 138(for a cheaper option)?
Where's the best place to pick up a good / new one (bris)?

Hey Nes
           I'm 99.99% sure you can't bolt a red motor pump to a grey :'(.
You could get out the yellow pages and have a look for somone who sells reco ones. Try Thompsons ,   Harrisons @ Logan ,     Old Holden Wreckers 742 Logan RD @Greenslopes? PH 3397 9211.     Street Neat  (Andrew) is selling most of his gear 0412 032 239 @ Thornlands. or Rare Spares. Maybe try a few shops that reco this sort of thing.
Ring around and get the best price , a few calls can save hundreds of dollars sometimes. I once got a price an a pump for $680.00 and ended up replacing it for $45.00 ,with a better pump than the original ,cast  iron vs alloy ;).
Or place a post in parts wanted , postage on a pump won't be that much even from WA.
I only have one good spare and won't part with it, but who knows what other  forum users have sitting in there sheds.
Slim seems to be selling a lot of gear , maybe give him a PM. Good luck.
                                                                          Brad

thanks all for help.
I have a grey motor with a water pump on it which has red paint flaking off it and wondered where it was from... I'd like to repaint it and need to take off the pump and thought about just replacing the whole unit as it looks rough but slim, i'll keep you in mind.
