That's one FAST red motor.

I calculate that at about 400-420HP at the flywheel - serious, serious power from a red six unless it has a crossflow head and many other mods.

Must be silly gas, any specs????

Cheers,

A VERY interested Craig.

I check it out when i attend the nostalgia drags(its always parked near the steps under a carport type shelter?), it is a sensational  car!!  wasnt it for sale on ebay awhile back ??  I also seen it at the nats but it wasnt entered, real nice piece of machinery.  You from the western suburbs Ol' 59?

Title: Re: old 59 202 drag car
Post by: old59 on July 06, 2006, 11:01:55 AM
yes the car was on ebay a while back but it was just a joke by a couple of mates to scare me.  hi Craig its actually a blue motor with red head but yes it does have silly gas but not that much, other than that its pretty tame look out for my brothers car coming back on the road soon its same paint scheme but a lite green instead it has same engine combo but a much bigger cam and triple stromberg carbs should be good for low eleven sec pass.

Hey Old59,

I'd guess a 150HP NOX kit on a 220HP or so six.

Good stuff, like it LOTS. Must be lots fo fun to drive. Funny, or different, to put a red head on a blue motor. Usually the other way around.

I have a 208 with a 149 big port head, 11-1 compression, triple 45mm Webers, roller rockers, custom grind cam.  You gotta love the NOISE these things make :-)

Cheers,

Craig.

Here's a deal - I'll tell you how to do the picture thing if you tell me about your engine  ;)

Fair swap I say!!!

My engine if just bore, no offset grind. I'd looked at 235 stroking with a 221 crank, but stayed away because of power vs torque. I want both, but would rather settle for power with good torque.

I'm expecting a mid to low 13 in my XU1, similar weight to your FC.

Cheers,

Craig

PS: I still LOVE my 149 three speed FC, 1/4 time over 20 seconds. 149CI, 20/60 cam, standard carb. COOL.

dug up a video from fullboost.com, was just going to post up the link on fullboost but you need to be a full member to do this...so i put it into photobucket.

bloody looks and goes good this beast ;D just be warned if you have dialup...it may take a while  :-/ and also...youve gotta wait for a few other cars to do their thing before old59 but 11.6??? shit  :o ;D ;D

hi fc 427 would you believe that yellaterra still have not got their head available yet after supposedly being ready early year 2008 to still not looking close to being ready, i am starting to think about the j zed head but its a bit pricey. I am actually moving up to queensland by the end of the month so might come have a chat with joe at one of the meetings at willowbank. Am actually going to be there for the top fuel event on the 26th will you guys be there if so would love to have a chat with you guys see what we can come up with cause am really not happy with this last combo which is reallly just a lightened crank and new cam so let ne know thanks Nick

Hi Nick before I bought my Cast Iron YellowTerra head 3 years ago they said they were doing a run of Aluminium heads in about 2 to 3 months so looks like they are a little behind, I am glad I didn't wait.....As for Willowbank as far as I know it's a non event, Joe is chasing the normally aspirated Australian title at the moment but next year we will be back to Willowbank and will catch up then. I thought the JZ head was a bit dear for me to run on the street but when I get my new blower set up might be the way to get some flow and make HP   ......FC427.......

Hi old59 last time the car ran at the Nitro Champs it ran 9.1  normally aspirated for a couple of runs then the rain came down and washed the meeting out with all going well it should run in to the 8s, we went out for dinner last week and he is going to run the car this Friday night, I have not been crewing lately trying to finish my Rod but there are big planes for a rear engine car and a new combination with more boost  and with all going well it will run in the low 7s or even in to the 6s remember it holds the National record with 7.7 so it only needs 1 second and it would be 6.7 second 1/4 mile  not to bad for a Holden six  ......FC427....
