Title: How about a competition? Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on August 03, 2002, 09:40:08 AM Why not post a photo of an FE or FC, preferably side on with a simple background (plain wall) and see what people can do to it? Assign a non-partial judge and a closing date, then go for it!

Weedy :D Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: craiga on August 20, 2002, 05:52:23 AM Guys,
I have already started on an FE FC Colouring Book (good for the big and little kids). You will be able to print out and colour in, or use your favourite paint tool (photoshop/paintbrush etc) to add your own style. I'll try to have it finished in the next couple of days and will post a link. Cheers, Craig. Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: RET on August 21, 2002, 01:01:50 AM Yeah, sounds like a great idea. I can see the space I've allocated on our server for attachments filling up in real quick time!
CraigA, line-art is OK for colouring in, but I think you need a real photo for a PhotoShop comp. As stinky suggested, nothing with an unnecessarily difficult background to work with. Stinky, you'd have good contacts; do you have any suggestions on someone impartial we could get to judge this? And generally: Would people want or expect a prize of some sort? Or would the fame/notoriety be enough? ;D Please comment. RET Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: FCwagon on August 21, 2002, 01:20:26 AM RET
I think the fame & noteriety (along with a certificate) would suffice to swell ones head sufficiently. Leigh Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on August 21, 2002, 08:00:34 AM I know just the person to judge, he has just finished a 4 1/2 year stint at the helm of SMASA (www.smasa.com.au) and is a '50s/Rock and Roll junkie who can appreciate a good custom or two.
He won't be back at work until the 2nd of September though and is PC Challenged at home. I guess this would also disqualify me from entering, oh well. Here's a little something I knocked up from and old nationals banner. Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: Sheriff on August 21, 2002, 09:12:59 AM OK you pixel artists, how about transposing an FB windscreen to an FE/FC (ala the 55 Chevy). Some may say why bother, but why not? Have often wondered what they would have been like if they had copied their Yank cousins more closely. Cheers! ;D . Mike.
Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: craiga on August 21, 2002, 09:40:14 AM Here is an FE with frenched and enlarged headlights, dual frenched aerials, sectioned grill, 3" chop, 2 door conversion, modified wheel arches, dual number plate surrounds, 19" wheels, and lowered 4" front and rear ;D
Sorry, no room for an FB screen ;) Game on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers, Craig. Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on August 21, 2002, 10:47:48 AM Man, that does it, take this!

What do you think CraigA, shall I post that "project" that you created for me a month or two back? Maybe we should've tried it with a chop top too! Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: customFC on August 21, 2002, 12:07:30 PM Close down photoshop and pick up them pencils.
Regards Alex P.S. Richard, I think you may need to put in a note about copyrights on artwork and designs. If anyone wants to use these images, I suggest you contact the artist for permission. Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: customFC on August 21, 2002, 12:11:44 PM Craig.
I think your kids might enjoy putting some colour to this van instead. If you need contributions for your book, let me know. Perhaps we could sell em as a fundraiser for the Qld Nats? Regards Alex Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on August 21, 2002, 12:19:21 PM Well that's torn it!
Here's the picture CraigA had doen for me a while back. It is intended as a long term "period custom", there is a rusty FC Wagon in the back paddock and a set of 13x6 and 14x7 Tasmans sitting in the tool shed. I just need some wood! Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: craiga on August 21, 2002, 07:51:16 PM Alex,
I would love to put some of your images into the colouring book. I was hoping to use it to amuse the kids at the upcoming 21st Birthday night, but it would be a great thing to sell at the Nationals. The colouring book packaged with some Tan crayons. ;D Perfect....... Craig. Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: RET on August 21, 2002, 11:18:09 PM Quote ... P.S. Do you want to give me the wording? You're the one who gets his artwork ripped off, after all. RET Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: Wayne on August 22, 2002, 12:24:40 AM Craig what is this about tan crayon what about the number 1 colour GREY in the pack as well WAYNE ??? :o Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: craiga on August 22, 2002, 11:00:34 AM Alex,
Thats fantastic, or should that be "vantastic" ;D Here's the FE hybrid that was requested. I've called it the FEEK ;) Cheers, Craig. Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: customFC on August 22, 2002, 11:19:38 AM Craig.
Updated the pic slightly. Here it is again. Now about that FCEK, Did you know that one of those actually existed at one time. I saw a classified advert in a hot rod mag from the early 70's? that included a photo. It didn't look bad, kinda like a prototype FB or a styling design for the updated FC. Regards Alex Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: HARKO on August 23, 2002, 11:05:40 AM How does this one grab you officer ,I mean Sheriff ,It was a little more time consuming than expected but the Harlequin paint and lowering job along with that 2inch drop in the roof height make for viewing pleasure .
(http://photo.starblvd.net/~flame/2-4-2.jpg) Here's a good candidate but see if you can change the colour while your at it ,Maybe an outrageous shade of shiny primer (http://photo.starblvd.net/~flame/2-4-3.jpg) (http://photo.starblvd.net/~flame/2-4-4.jpg) Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: RET on August 24, 2002, 12:02:50 AM Harko,
Not at all. Alex's artwork that we use in our magazine Sideplate turns up in lots of other clubs' magazines, without any permission sought or granted. It would piss me off. RET Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: Sheriff on August 24, 2002, 08:49:45 AM Thanks Harko. good job. Though I prefer the original after all. ;D. Mike
Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: HARKO on August 27, 2002, 11:27:14 AM C'mon Craig I thought you'd have this one in the bag mate and Simon you have spent a few hours on the chop shop ,Whats happened ? I keep signing on to see some art evrey day and it seem's to slipping into the expance of FE FC Cyberspace.
Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: RET on August 27, 2002, 11:55:00 PM OK, this is the plan.
We will institute a competition, using a single photo which you can download from the site as a starting point. There might be a prize, but don't count on it. Expect only the admiration of your peers if you win, and any prize will be a bonus. There will be an expiry date by which time you must have posted your entry. I'll figure out some way of keeping the entries sealed until after that date. Then they'll be made available for all to see and vote on, members' choice. One vote each, no voting for Guests. Anyway, I'm a bit busy with real work at the moment, so don't hold your breath. I'll post more information as the competition gets closer to readiness. cheers RET Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: gree on August 28, 2002, 06:07:24 AM hey harko, i have been waiting for the official competition to begin! this is going to be fun.
i love alex's van-sled by the way..... 8) do you think anyone would mind us using one of craig's pictures from the recent event at eastern creek. there are some good shots of standard cars there to start with... Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: craiga on August 28, 2002, 06:37:13 AM Hi Gree,
Go for it!!!!! From my side those photos are yours and everyones to use as you want. It may be worth checking with the owners of each vehicle though????? Can't wait to see what everyones imagination produces. Harko - I'm interstate on business for the next week but when I get back I'll have a go at something new. Cheers, Craig. Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: HARKO on September 14, 2002, 12:11:01 PM Im about to red light
Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: HARKO on October 03, 2002, 09:47:37 AM I thought this would be a brilliant idea for the competition that was mentioned a month or so ago (DIG DIG)
It may or may not interest Norm but as we have all been reading ,He has his sports sedan up and running again ,so I thought it very fitting to propose the competition be based on a race car theme for Norm's car Easily applied to a drawing with pencil and a great one for expressing your own individuality ie Wheel's ,colour and decal's (stickers ,Tatts) Keeping this competition light hearted I would suggest that the owner of the car chose a favourite rather than a winner. I count myself out on this one and hope to see some art even from the kids ,Hopefully craig could donate some colouring in pics for the job and if you feel some other type of art would be interesting go right ahead Here is a design I have come up with only for if anyone would like to pick idea's from ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Harko (http://photo.starblvd.net/~flame/3-5-2.jpg) (http://photo.starblvd.net/~flame/3-5-3.jpg) Not forgetting craigs original idea ! (http://photo.starblvd.net/~flame/3-3-4.jpg) Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on December 03, 2002, 11:46:07 AM I guess seeing as it was my idea in the first place, I will put up my hand to organise the entries. Also, I know a guy that has been involved in Street Machining for quite sometime I am sure he will oblige with judging.
Can I suggest 2 categories? 1. For the beginners, a line drawing (if Alex allows it, the FC Woodie currently takes pride of place on my desktop) 2. Advanced, a photo or maybe a selection of 2-3. As for prizes, who wants to offer something? Maybe a free membership for a year? Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: HARKO on December 13, 2002, 12:10:06 PM As car enthusiasts Stinky we are a minority within the community,
As car enthusiasts of two particular models under one company name we are of a minority of the car enthusiast group As enthusiasts of one body style frome one company with an interest in art - Hey we are the minoroty people talk under thier breath mate , Its just you and I with not a mention of interest in sight ,Maybe we should let this one die with dignity Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: HARKO on December 13, 2002, 12:14:55 PM Hi Richard I was hoping you could get a picture to me of the Red and White FC Wagon that was in this thread but isnt now ,I was just searching for it and its gone ,Thanks mate.
Title: Re: How about a competition? Post by: RET on December 13, 2002, 12:32:05 PM Hey Harko,
As luck would have it, the ad is gone but the picture is still in the cars for sale folder.
