Title: THE UTE
Post by: collecta on May 22, 2006, 12:29:08 PM
The ute that almost made it to the island.
After seeing Eds wagon a nice custom grille would work well.
final colours/design not concrete yet ,but i will be doing bright scollops.

Hey Scott......Custom grille......"ABSOLUTELY".

As far as colour goes...take inspiration from what you've already got.    Go RAT ROD and stick with a flat Grey finish with those great Whitewall Tyres...rims painted red, with chrome baby moons !

OH YEAH  :o

The baby moons will tie in nicely with those headlight covers...the custom grille will set off the RAT ROD theme.

You'll save heaps on paint, polishing, mags ect, and will have something that will turn heads, be a one of a kind, and will be part of one of the fastest growing styles of car building going around.

Just my thoughts.

Good luck with whatever you decide is right for you and your Ute...either way, I'm sure it will look a treat and you will just love it !

Cheers

Hey Scott,

happy belated birthday.

on grilles...

I noticed alot of US cars were using a single bar across the grille opening.

i reckon what would be cool is to cut and shut an appropriately shaped bumper bar.. I always thought an HR item was perfect.. or an older style VW beetle.

use an FE/FC grille surround, and place the bar across the opening, having the bar cut thru the surround would be super cool.

using this "as is" or then embillishing with bullets or other stuff would be sweet!

probably done myself out of another grille idea but hey.. I'm sharing it.

Cheers

Ed

Thanks guys,
Ive actually been toying with the idea of fe fc bar centre with overriders and one plated gold. funny you should mention bumpers Ed.
Honestly im not a fan of moon caps on standard width rims, i like dish in my rims if i were to run caps, so no caps, rims possibly painted bright orange and  chrome wheel trims to finish  the rims off.
Nice try with the link SRV.
Body was either going to be grey or satin black with orange scollops and lowered a bit more in the rear.

cheers
Scott
