Title: HQ stud pattern on diff? Post by: Ed on May 10, 2006, 10:39:24 PM Hi guys,
I am contemplating an LJ diff into early Holden (for the narrow track) but also want to change up to HQ stud pattern. Would shortened HQ axles work? Cheers Ed Title: Re: HQ stud pattern on diff? Post by: Dr_Terry on May 10, 2006, 11:28:26 PM Hi Ed.
That would probably too much mucking around to do it that way. The rear axle bearings are not the same. It would be easier to just shorten an HQ-HZ housing & axles to the exact the dimension required. It would be cheaper & easier to do the re-spline in the later 23 'fine-spline' style & use the later side gears. Stronger as well. Dr Terry. Title: Re: HQ stud pattern on diff? gives me an easy place to start. Cheers Ed Title: Re: HQ stud pattern on diff? Post by: blacky on May 12, 2006, 09:05:26 PM In my EK I have fitted a narrowed VR Commodore diff , gives you disc brakes and a 4 pinion diff centre , I had the bolt pattern changed to HQ by buying 1/2" wheel studs and offset drilling the existing holes as they are only 0.6mm different.
