Title: Speedo Retainer Thingy ?
Post by: Blown_FC on February 16, 2006, 11:58:19 PM
Went to re-fit my speedo cable yesterday ( into a Trimatic ), and found that although it fitted in nicely, it seems to be missing a retaining clip of some sort.

Can't say what it look like as I don;t have one, but it seems to be a big round clip that goes around the speedo head and bolts into the side of the gearbox.

It is a Drivers side gear selector version of the trimatic 9 early model I think ),

Does anyone know where I could get one ?

Cheers

Mark

From another trimatic  ::)
I had the same problem and ended up pinching one from a spare trans that I have. So if you do find a source let everyone else know, or at least me  ;D

Hey Stinky.....good news.....I've found the last 2 in Existence ( well maybe ).

I put a call through to my local Holden Dealer, and he has tracked them down, but there are only 2 left, as they are no longer supplied according to their records.

I am going to buy both, and I'll send you one.

I should get them in the morning, so I'll double check they fit before I send you yours.

These will be new.

Cheers

Mark

It would be easy to make a speedo cable retainer with a bit of metal strip about half an inch long with a hole drilled in it to fit the bolt ;). It locates in the machined groove on the speedo cable.
Aussie 4 and 3 speed all syncro use the same part as the Trimatic.
Hope this Helps,
