Title: ID plate question
Post by: 20.4_seconds on February 07, 2006, 09:03:20 PM
I just cleaned up some of the id plates that I have collected from some of the wrecks I've found and noticed that some of them don't have the Holden Lion stamped on them,  two of them are FE's and another FC.
Sorry about the crap pic but you get the IDea  ;D

Just wondering if this was just a natural progression in the manufacture details which was then stamped on later models id plates..i.e- EK/FB and so on....

Just wondering  :P

You are correct Nick, the lion appeared some time in 1959, and was a natural progression.   There is no date record that I have found for when it actually occurred, more likely as stocks of plates ran out at each plant, they were replaced with the new type and so there would be no set date when the change happened.  All cars after FC had the lion on the ID plate. I have quite a few later plates and everyone has the lion on it.
