Had a bit of a fiddle with sender worked ok for a while. Can I do anything to get it to work or must I replace sender? Rare Spares sell them? Get them any where else. Check the screws holding the sender to the tank housing are tight and making a good earth contact. The sender uses this connection point so it must be providing zero resistance in the circuit. Clean all contacts, in a 50 year old car many issues are related to series resistance caused by dirty earths and connections. The TG Gemini senders look like they could be easily fitted to FE-EK and are readily available for next to nothing and they look to be a better (cast alloy with plastic float) unit.

The only other fuel tank senders with the same 30 to zero resistance are all Holdens from 48 to '72 HQ & HB, LC, LJ & TA Toranas. Do all of those later models listed (that have the same resistance) have the fuel line take off come out of the sender? Any idea which may be the best to modify the float on to fit the early tanks. |
